Well, like you stated, it's in celebration of Saint Patrick. It's his feast day. So, Saint Patrick's day is a religious holiday.

Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland so it's always been big with them.

MANY Irishmen and women imigrated to the USA. That's why we have it.

Places like Boston and New York have a huge Irish population so it was celebrated by them originally. It caught on as a tradition with other ethnic groups.

I'm Irish. I just don't know how much. It's not alot though. I can tell ya that. I like St.Patrick's Day because I know my b-days the day after! I have nothing green so I won't be wearing green.

Okay, if your mom is full blood irish, you're 1/2 irish. if her mom or dad was full blood irish, you're 1/4 irish. if his or her mom or dad is full blood irish, you're 1/8, etc.
