We have always celebrated St Nicholas Day. My boys set out the wooden shoes that my parents bought for my brother and I while we vacationed in Holland when we were young.
We set the shoes on the fireplace hearth on Dec 5th. The good Saint fills them with chocolates, an ornament, gift cards, a book, a lottery ticket. As the boys get older, what the Saint leaves changes.
