This is our favorite island and love how laid back it is compared to the more touristy islands where people are practically grabbing you to use their service or buy something. Also the guava berry rum is one of our favorites to bring back to use as mixers.

FWIW, Guavaberry is now available in the States. I found it at a local liquor store in Tennessee.

I had heard, so who knows if this is accurate, that the main reason is that some of the beaches there aren't family friendly ( i.e. clothing optional)

Only port I have been offered illegal narcotics (Coke).... seemed like a setup as police were all over the port area.

Kind of left a bad feeling of the place for me.

I am also a big fan of St. Maarten. We stopped there back in 2010 when we sailed on the Oasis with RC and then again last summer when we sailed on the Fantasy. I was able to connect with a great scuba center for a very enjoyable dive on our stop last year and we enjoyed the beack and the shops both times. Of all the islands I have ever been to, it is absolutely one of my favorites.
