My DS10 and I will be on the eastern Magic in January and wondered if anyone would recommend the Dolphin Encounter while docked in St. Maarten. I've read they ferry you over to another island and you split the day swimming with dolphins and hanging out on the beach. It sounds really nice but I wanted to hear from someone who's actually done this.

Would you recommend it or not?

Thanks in advance for your help!

There have been a few posts about this excursion including mine. If you do a search for Anguilla dolphin encounter you should get info from threads already posted.

The ferry boat takes you to Anguilla. We did this excursion and enjoyed it very much. We had been to Anguilla before and loved the island.

We stayed on the Island for two weeks and did not do the Dolphin trip. They told us they do not come near the Island but they were wrong, they came right below our timeshare balcony with the turtles it was wonderful.

A nice short trip on the Island is the little zoo just outside the town. It is clean and very enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone.

There is also a butterfly farm which also is very interesting but there is no shade and it can be very hot.

Hi,

Here is the thread where I discussed our experience last June, 2004.

Thanks for leading me to that thread. I think we might forgo doing the Dolphin Encounter and do Discovery Cove on another trip. We've always enjoy doing the Golden Eagle Catamarran excursion while in St. Maarten and will probably do it again.

Thanks again!
