Is everyone ok?

How long was your power out and do you have any trees down?

Ours came back on about 7 Thursday night. It is nice and cool this morning! :thumbsup2 We lost some pretty big branches but no trees. I am so glad I never made it to the store on Wed! Didn't loose too much food.

Hope everyone is nice and cool today!

I hope everybody is okay. I just spoke with a friend in that area, and she said people were still without power.

Our power is back on! Yeah! We don't have central air, just a window unit in the den and one in the kitchen, so the bedrooms at the other end of the house are always hot. But this was unbearable! My DH is in Iceland for a month, so only DD, DS, and I had to suffer Wednesday night. We spent last night at my sister's in St. Peters (I'm still here now), and it was so nice to be cool! :cloud9: My DS went home this morning and called to tell us our power is back, but my parents, who are in their 80s, don't have theirs yet, and they only live 2 miles from me. :sad2: They had gone to my other sister's house in Harvester, but she was having a problem with her air conditioner, and they said their house was cooler, so they went home! I called them this morning to see how they were, they said they were a little warmer than comfortable, but not bad. I made them PROMISE to come out here ASAP if necessary!

Luckily, we had no house or tree damage, just clutter everywhere. Well, actually with my DH gone, I have no idea if there might be roof damage. The sister's house I'm at had some siding damage.

Other St. Louisans, check in please!

We got our power back yesterday evening. When we got home around 8:30 the air was running and it was 83 in the house. One block over they do not have power and my parents still do not have power. They are saying that it could be up to 5 days before everyone get power back. After the last few years of storms we no longer have any really large trees in our yard. We had 6 big trees when we moved in 9 years ago. We are down to the smallest maple of our original trees. Thankfully we do not have any damage. We have a contract on the house and are suppose to close on August 17. All I kept thinking during the storm was we just sold the house so please don't hurt the house.

I am from St. Louis...our families are there.

So far DH's brother in Florissant said his power won't be on for 4 more days!

My mum and brother are in Woodson Terrace...near the airport (not the best part of town!)....they live in my grandmother's house...anyway, as of this morning they still did not have power. I checked the Post-Dispatch website and they have a chart showing which zip codes are without power, and how many people in that zip are without power.

I think you all are supposed to cool off a little today, right? I sure hope so. I cannot imagine being without power for this long in this heat.

We are thinking about you all and praying for quick power restoration.

I'm at the Lake of the Ozarks right now, but DH is at home (in Wildwood). He said we lost power for only about 30 minutes. But said the storm was pretty bad where we were. He didn't mention any damage. He said it sounded like someone crashed into our house when it started. I'm so glad the boys weren't there.

Here we go again. It's 11:30am and the severe storm warning sirens are going off again. We live in the metro east, but the storm just passed thru St. Louis. Very high winds. Getting off the 'puter now.

Yep, my DS just called to say our power is off again!

We're out in the Ballwin area and we have been very lucky that all we had so far was a few flickers with the powers. DH texted me though as the power just went out at his work.

My Dad is in O'Fallon, was that area hit?

We were not without power from either storm luckily- we live at Hwy 94 and the Page ext in St Charles- there were lots of trees down here from Wednesday now today we are ok too My grandparents live in "old St. Charles" off Elm they got their power on last night but it is back off again now - I did see some more trees / branches down today and a couple of fences ( 6 ft tall ) blown down. Dh's office is over by Barnes St. Peters Hospital and they (the office not the hosp) is without power. Hopefully this is the end of these storms!!

Here I am sitting in Texas...don't miss that stuff. My 15yodd keeps getting mad because she says she "misses" "the end of the world"...yea right, she was always saying "Hail Mary's" .

I do miss actual weather forecasts, I miss Glenn Zimmerman and Dave...
Here in Texas they complain about the heat and that is about it. Oh and it might rain or it might not. :rotfl2:

If these people experienced a St. Louis summer they would be cowering in the corner.

Stay safe you guys...

We passed through St Louis County yesterday and drove through St Charles and St Peters. Several gas stations in the Halls Ferry and Jamestowne (the mall was fine) area were without power, the stations with power had very long lines. Mid Rivers Mall was up and running, as was Sams Club. We grew up there but moved to Illinois. I grew up in St Charles, still love the area but can't stand the congestion. There were only 35,000 people in St Charles when I was a child, I can't imagine the current population. Lots of trees and branches down everywhere we drove through.

O'Fallon Missouri or Illinois? Not sure about Missouri, but O'Fallon Illinois missed much of the bad storm today. The Illinois town were hardest hit today...mostly with high-winds damage. There were also 2 tornadoes. Madison and Clinton counties in Illinois received the worst of it. Buildings damaged and trees down.

MO, I forgot there was one in IL too.

I'm surprised I only lost power for maybe 5 minutes tops. Each of the past 2 summers, this type of storm has knocked out power for a day and a half at least. Unfortunately, a lot of the people around me are still without power and have also been told to expect waits of 3-4 more days. I feel for them.

My brother lives in the Soulard area (near Busch Stadium) and he said his was one of about 3 buildings in a several block radius that still had power as of last night.

At least the temp is MUCH cooler today. With so many people still out of power we are thankful that mother nature handed us a day without 100 degree tempurature.

Glad to hear everyone is doing well! After I started this thread we lost ours again for awhile on Friday, and a pretty big tree too! Ours came back on! But many in my neighborhood are still off from Wed! Hopefully today all will be back to normal.

When the first storm came through here in Granite City it was awful. We got the worst of it, there are trees down in Wilson Park it looks like a war zone. We had our power out for 31.5 hours right when storm 1 came through, then it came on for 9 hours, and went out for 10 right when storm 2 came through.
