My group of 8 has a 25 minute layover (runover?!) in St Louis on a saturday morning flight to Tampa. Never been that close on time, anyone know if the gates there are close or have any advice? Thanks!

Anything less than a one hour layover makes me nervous. You have to worry about if your arriving flight is on time and how far are the gates from each other. It will be cutting it close.

If your incoming flight is on time, that's very tight but doable as long as you don't have to change airlines or anything. If you're flying in on American and coming on a regional jet, you'll be in C Concourse in an odd-numbered gate. If the flight to Tampa is on an MD-80 or other full-size plane, you'll be in the C Concourse on the even side. Worst case scenario in that situation is about a 10-15 minute run/walk between gates. If you're stuck on a turbo prop from OK, you might have a problem as those come in to the B Concourse and will have to make a run from there to the C Concourse. You won't have to clear security in either scenario. If you have more details I can be more specific.

Which airline(s)? That would make a difference in terms of the distance between gates.

My flight is on southwest and arrives 835 am and leaves at 900am. Southwest experience in STL anyone?

Well that actually is a little bit better then flying into the main terminal. Southwest (and a handful of other carriers like champion, etc.) use the "east" terminal. It is fairly small and its biggest airliner is Southwest. Although its tight in terms of if the plane gets in their late, etc. you really shouldn't have an issue.

Here is a map to the east terminal:

It's a change of plane! Hope the luggage makes it.

Since you are in the East terminal I think you can do it. You will most likely be just moving a gate or 2 over, at worst just down the "hall". We like to fly SW out of STL as I think the East terminal is so easy to get around in, it is pretty small! I doubt your group will get to sit together as you most likely will be about the last to board. But the flight from StL to Tampa is only about 2 hours so it is probably not a big issue. As for your luggage I would be sure to have a least the first day covered in my carry-0n. The rest can catch up to you at your hotel the next day if it wouldn't make it. SW is pretty good though so don't worry just be prepared for the worst.

I've taken that 9:00 am Tampa flight many times. Your flight in from Tulsa usually arrives at gate E10, and the Tampa flight usually departs out of E12, which is one gate to the right of E10 as you come off the jetway. Here is the terminal map: http://www.lambert-stlouis.com/maps/eastterm.htm

I think that the Tampa flight may originate out of STL; I never see arrival status for it on the board, and checking the website for its arrival in STL this morning gives me a no-status-available message. It has been known to depart a few minutes early if everyone has boarded, so I would advise going directly to the gate as soon as you deplane. If it is boarding when you arrive, go ahead and go to the designated "spot" for the letter of boarding pass that you have; most of the time the agent will allow latecomer A's to cut into line if the rest of the A's have already entered the jetway, and the odds are good that he will be expecting you and will wave you in.

Of course, if everyone else has already passed the BP scanner when you get there, you get whatever seats you get. The agent will be looking for you if you are not there by the time that they are ready to close the doors, and will have you paged.

As mentioned before, you will be in the East Terminal. Once you get off your plane go straight to the next gate. You should be fine unless your original flight is delayed for any reason. Don't forget to take a carry-on with about 24 hours of clothing just incase. Have fun.
