I had heard that if you bury a St. Joseph statue in your front yard it will help you sell your house. I bought a kit online (http://www.stjosephstatue.com/index.htm). Since our house has been on the market for 30 days without selling we buried St. Joseph last night. We dug a hole near the for sale sign. We placed the statue in the 6 inch deep hole head down, face towards the street, and said the prayer that was included. We couldnt find a flashlight so we did all this by candlelight. Who knows - maybe it'll work. We're not Catholic but I dont think that matters. Has anyone else tried this? Did it work?

I posted on the home for sale board but we have one buried, it hasn't worked yet. I have to move him to a better spot though.

I bought St Joe in the local mission store here. The directions said to place him in a front window facing the door. Did that on Sun and had a buyer go thru Fri. The house still hasn't sold so I'll try burying him this wkend.

I did when selling my first place. No takers at first, buried him head down out front and had a good offer within 2 weeks.

My step-mom did for the last three houses they sold. All worked efficiently according to her! I'd never heard of such a thing!

Well, we bought our present house back in '90. The lady we had bought it from had already turned down several offers that were way higher than we offered. So, after having no bites for 3 months, when we made our offer she took it. So.....when my dh was doing some yard work (his favorite thing in the world), he saw a funny bump in the front lawn. He started digging around the area, thinking there was a tree root trying to get out. Nope, it was this religious statue. Now, dh was raised RC, but still had no idea what this was. We had to call my Polish RC step-mom, who told us all about St. Joseph!!! I guess it didn't work so well for the former owner, since it took her 6 months to sell the house. Of course, she was a bit greedy in a buyers market!

Our old house was on the market for about 45 days before we got Joe. We had a few lookers, but not a single offer. Buried St. Joe, and within 2 weeks we had an offer, and our house was sold. :cool1: I am a firm believer in the power of Joe (and no, I'm not Catholic, either). :sunny:

It worked for us. Our house was on the market for 60 days when we heard about St Joseph. He was hard to find, sold out of the first two places I went. I buried him on a Friday night exactly the way it said and on Monday night we had a signed offer to purchase. I did pray to him every day to please help. It made a believer out of us.
Go for it, it can't hurt and if you do sell quick after burying him who knows, it just may have worked. :thumbsup2

It worked for us. My realtor really wasn't doing much to get the house sold and I knew about this from my mom. Got St. Joe, buried him upside down, said the prayer, and had an offer in a week.
My DH whi is a methodist ministers son thought I was NUTS!!!! He became a believer though! :thumbsup2

St. Joseph isn't helping us....our house has now been on the market for a YEAR and we have dropped the asking price to what we paid 5 years ago.

sigh....we may be just asking too much from St. Joe on this one.

Anyone want a perfectly lovely Victorian home in West Virginia????

Another one for my collection of ridiculous threads :lmao:

When I first saw the title all I could think was "When did St. Joe get his real estate license?" :rotfl2:

Sorry, I wish you the best of luck in selling the house!

Ok mine didnt come with the prayer.

Can anyone post it for me?

I reburied him last week :)

He is in my front area under a tree but not very close to the sign... hmmmmm

If it makes you happy then fine. Do you know how this started? There was a priest who was building a new church (in Canada I believe) and it had no roof. When a parishoner asked him why the St. Joseph statue was doing outside. He said is he wants a roof over his head he will find a way to get one and if he doesn't then he will stand in the rain. Well a few days later the roof was going on due to donations. This is a very quick version of the story.

They also say you need to dig him up when you move or you will end up back at that house.

I don't believe in it and I am Catholic, but to each his own.

Yes, it worked for us! St. Joseph helped us sell our house in Tampa. I truly believe that! We sold our house much faster than anyone else who was selling a house in the same neighborhood.

I used St Joseph when my MILwas selling her house. about one week after burying there was a contract.

I am not Catholic but I was so tired of hearing her complain about the house and the cost (she was living with us) I went to the Catholic Shop at lunch one day to pruchase it. I buried him in the garden under the front window. I wonder if the new owner found him while gardening.

My DH works at a Catholic high school and one of the nuns told us about St. Joseph when we were selling our first house. She said you need to bury him face down in front of the kitchen window. Then, when your house sells, you need to put him in a place of honor in your new house. We buried him, the house sold within 2 weeks and now St. Joseph is on a shelf in my family room. :thumbsup2
