St. Augustine

We're driving to WDW this fall instead of flying. We're going to the St. Augustine area to visit the forts first. We need a place to stay in that area the first night before driving to DW for the rest of the week. Anyone familiar with the St. Augustine area who could advise me of a safe, clean place to stay? TIA.

I found a Best Western Historical Inn on Ponce De Leon, a BW St. Augustine I-95 (think you're not referring to this one) and a BW Spanish Quarters Inn on Castillo Drive. Would it be one of these?

boy sorry they really raised the price - the hotel does not look the same - but the pool does.

it looks like it got a major rehab. we pay $45 during the summer.


might go with the one on the beach - it is cheaper,

Well my suggestion is not budget friendly...but we have stayed at the Hilton Historic Bayfront and it is in a great location within walking distance of the quaint shops and restaurants and also Castillo de San Marcos. Very clean, recently renovated, and safe.

We stay at the Bayfront Inn across from the Santa Maria restaurant and bay only a short walk to the fort and shops in town. Newly remodeled and they take aaa if you have it.Very nice hotel.

There are a few hotels by the outlets on 95 that are very reasonable. You are only a 5-10 min drive to the historic area. We usually stay on the St A beach at the Hilton Garden, we can usually get a good deal on it.

Also not the best for a budget, but the Casa Monica is fantastic. Gorgeous hotel right in the middle of downtown, across the street from St. George St. and within a short walk to the Fort. I've seen rates from time to time offered around $150...

We always stay at the Comfort Suites near the World Golf Village. The have free breakfast, indoor/outdoor pools, spacious rooms, etc. They have always been great with the kids and also make sure that we have a sofa bed as well as the 2 queen beds (3 kids). We have never paid more than $75 for a night using the travel coupon books found at rest areas or online at www.roomsaver.com . I usually call from to road to verify they have room at that rate and they always have. One time they even gave us that rate and upgraded up to a whirlpool suite at no additional charge because that was all that was open.

La fiesta Inn. If you google it, you'll find you just need to delete spaces and add the .com,

Inexpensive No creepy crawlies, and homemade scones delivered to your room (amongst other things) every morning. Also beach access. We had a ball here. Then we drove into town and took the trolley tour.

It isn't the Hilton, but it was friendly, clean, and within our budget. We always need 3 rooms, so that is important. Breakfast was a list of choices. Like 3 things per person and includes OJ or coffee.

Sunrise on the beach did not stink, either!

WOW! I always thought La Fiesta Inn was my little secret! Love it very clean, nice people, breakfast brought to your room and great price!

We like Coumtry Inn $ Suites, inexpensive and clean, free breakfast. I have stayed at both the downtown and the one on I-95. If you want to stay on the beach try Hampton Inn on St. Augustine Beach.
Our favorite place to eat is fish and chips at The Prince of Whales. It's very small but it has the best fish and chips I have every eaton.
