I am sooooo excited that Mom and Dad have booked a trip for the last week of September so my friend Koala and I can go to MNSSHP. Ok, reality check--put together Mom's favorite things (Disney, pumpkins, and candy) and it's my lucky day! I even have my costume all figured out!

Anyway, Mom and Dad are debating whether they should get tickets to MNSSHP now or if they should wait until they get down there and can see the weather forecast. Does anyone know if it ever sells out? (Koala and I checked it out and found out there are only certain nights for the DVC discount.)

I don't remember it ever selling out.

As you know, officially Disney doesn't refunds due to the weather but if it's is really bad they will give you a 1 day admission ticket to the MK.

In September, the odds are that you should be ok waiting.

Around Halloween, it tends to sell out. October weekends may sell out as well. Most locals go to the weekends, so they tend to be much busier than nights before a work/school day.

We're going in October, but have decided to wait to see what the weather forecast is when we get there.

The first time I went it poured, but the event went on as planned. The only time I've seen it sold out is Halloween night.

Since you are going in September, there's no need to worry about a sell ut. IMO, it's a good idea to wait until you have a good idea of what the weather will be like. It's no fun going to MNSSHP in the rain (and esp no fun watching the fireworks) and if it's nasty enough, they'll cancel the parade.

The party probably won't sell out in September, but as it gets closer to Halloween, it does typically sell out. We have done MNSSHP the last 2 years and its been an amazing experience both times (for what it's worth, we always buy our tickets the night before we plan on going so we can ensure the weather will be cooperating). We are actually going to be at Disney in September for one night before our cruise, but DH wants to go to Epcot this year instead of the party. To which I say...BOOOOOOO!
