Hi all!

I'm just contemplating our next trip and have heard really good things about SSR. We're surgically attached to the CBR but CBR is creeping up in price these days - so much so that the last quote I did made it more expensive than SSR and OKW, even though these are classed as Deluxe!

So, I do have a few questions for those who have stayed here before:

1) Does SSR feel 'Disney'? This is a big factor for us given that CBR is permeated with POTC and we loved it!

2) Does SSR have big travel times to the resorts? Even though it's so close to DTD, it looks in the middle of nowhere for the rest of Disney!

3) Does SSR have somewhere to buy snacks? We are the 'get up and go' type family, and we love grabbing a croissant or cereal and then just heading off for the day? Artist's Palette doesn't look to have a bakery or place to buy like fruit salad or cereal or whatever... does SSR have such a place?

Would really appreciate any help from any SSR guests! :goodvibes

SSR is a dvc resort. The bus rides are the usual 10-20 mins. There are 5 bus stops inside the resort so that travel time is once you leave SSR. DVC resorts are not overly Disney. They have Disney themeing but not over the top like values or mods. Artists palette is the quick service also in the same area is a mini market where you can get cereal etc too. We are owners at SSR so if you have any further questions just let me know.

We have stayed at ssr twice. The last time we were in the paddocks section, right by the pool. It was a great location and there was a quick service at that pool that you could get typical counter service meals, coffee and so on. It was also a quick walk to the main building.

You can check here for resort pictures and allears as well. We never had any issues with the bus service. It is a beautiful resort.

I'm a DVC member and Saratoga Springs is my home resort. In regard to the theming of the resort I wouldn't say it is overly Disneyised if that makes sense. The bus times are pretty frequent and would say every 5-15mins however due to the sheer size of the resort it can take a while for the bus to get to your stop depending on what area you're staying in ie Congress Park is the last stop so can sometimes take 15ish mins to get there.
A proximity of the resort in my opinion is the best out of them all. You're almost 5 mins from DTD via boat, car or walking. 5 mins from Typhoon Lagoon (depending on traffic lights), 10-15 mins from EPCOT, DHS and MK however it's a little ionger to get to AK and BB. Plus you're right next to te I4.
Inside the Artists Palette there is a Mini Mart that sells every thing you require.

Its a lovely, peaceful resort and we really love staying here and hope you do too! :goodvibes

None of the deluxe or DVC resorts have the feeling of living in a movie set. They are subtlely designed with touches here and there. SSR is probably more centrally located than many of the other resorts. Time to and from the theme parks takes from 10-20 minutes once you leave the resort. But you will go through the resort to the various bus stops.

Artists Palette is an upscale counter service. None of the deluxe or DVC resorts have food courts like the value and moderate resorts.

We had the chance to stay there a few years ago on the 4/3 deal.

The close proximity to DTD was great; I usually stay at POR and spend a lot of time at DTD, as well as using the hub coming back from a resort after dinner.

The Spa at SSR is the best one on property.

The restaurant, The Turf Club, is one of the best kept secrets, besides Olivia's Cafe at OKW. It is now one of my favorite places to spend a lazy afternoon, with the book out on the patio sipping wine and eating appetizers. Their food is to die for. Only thing, it is a long, long way to the ladies room.....after a few glasses of wine.

The Artist Palette had wonderful grocery items, which allowed us to make breakfast in the studio and then have lunch and dinner at the parks or the resorts on the dining plan.

The bus ride was wonderful; very similar to POR with the multiple stops. Only drawback, since THV shares with buses with SSR and they use the Springs stop (where we were located), the buses were usually very crowded in the mornings. But manageable any other time of day.

The theming is nicely understated; it isn't in your face kind of Disney like the values. It is very much like Upstate New York and the colors of the exterior of the buildings are wonderful. Also enjoyed having a balcony and we faced the lake.

The main pool was especially nice and never felt crowded.

I still love POR, but we really enjoyed our stay there that year.

I had never been to SSR before this last trip. We went to the Spa since our usual haunt at the GF was closed for 18mths. I think the resort is beautiful, pool and lobby seemed nice! However the Spa and the busses were horrible! We were treated rudely at the spa because they claimed we were late but the only reason we were late was because their free shuttle from the Poly to the Spa never showed up to pick us up!

We waited for a bus twice there. Once for Downtown Disney for a half hour and then we waited forty five minutes for one to show up for Magic Kingdom.

From what I hear the rooms are beautiful but I would stay clear of the spa and maybe rent a car :)
