Hi Gang,

We are making our first trip home to SSR this October for 10 nights. We will be staying in a 1BR suite.

For those that have stayed there before, we would like to know where the best place in the resort is. We'll probably walk to DTD a few times and take the buses to/from the theme parks. My daughter will likely use the pool a lot if the weather is nice.

If you can help us with building numbers, floors, and which direction to face, and why, we would be so thankful.

Also, if someone has the fax number for us to send a room request to the SSR that would be appreciated.

If you want to be close to DTD, request a room in "Congress Park." If you want to be closer to the main pool / restaurant, request a room in "The Springs."

All requests need to be noted on the DVC reservation. About a year ago Disney quit accepting fax requests at ALL resorts. If you send a fax, it will be ignored.

That said, your requests probably don't matter much. I've never heard of SSR pre-assigning rooms. They almost always seem to be using the Room Ready system. Under Room Ready, rooms are not assigned to guests until they arrive at the front desk. When you arrive, they will show you (on a map) the rooms that are currently clean and ready for occupancy which match your reserved room size. You select the one you want from those available.

Thanks for the reply. So you mean if there are multiple units available when we check in we'll have a choice?

Correct. That's the basis for the "Room Ready" system--guests are given a choice of all rooms "ready" right when they arrive at the resort.

Room Ready gets people into their unit faster, while pre-assigned rooms have a better chance of meeting guest requests. Neither system is all things to all people.

With Room Ready, I don't think they'll force you to take a smoking room if you wanted NS. But you will have less flexibility in terms of having your other requests met. For example, if you requested 4th floor and the only thing available at check-in were 1st and 2nd floor rooms, you'll most likely be forced to choose one of those available rooms. Again, it's not a perfect system, but it does give you some control over your unit and will get you into a room virtually upon arrival.

Does each complex have a pool and bus stop?

I was looking at a map of the site, but there wasn't a lot of detail to it.

Yes. From any guest room it shouldn't be more than 2 minutes on foot to reach a pool or bus stop.

Bumping this up, can't decide where to request for our Oct trip either. We'll walk to DTD and I would love a DTD view. Any suggestions?

If those are the things you want, than word your request exactly that way. I wouldn't reccomend being more specific than that.

Is it worthwhile to make a request?

Say, Congress Park, top floor, and facing DTD?

Thanks for the suggestions. We were thinking Congress Park would that meet this requests.

Hi :wave2:
we were @ SSR Last month for 10 nights. The resort is just beautiful! We requested non-smoking, upper floor, congress park, DTD view.
We were given a beautiful Studio, in the 3rd building of congress park, on the 4th floor.
The view was of the tent of Cirque, & the house of blues tower, across the water, and the walk to the quiet pool (which is just lovely, I might add), was a snap ! :goodvibes
I`m sure your requets will try to be satisfied,...ours were :wave2:
good luck!!

Here's my two cents...

Personally, I wouldn't be that specific. There are 4 buildings in Congress Park, and the top floor of each only has four 1B villas. Due to the positioning of the rooms, only 2 or 3 of the 4 top-floor 1Bs in any one building will face DTD. Realistically, there are only 10-12 villas out of 500-600 that meet your criteria.

If DTD view is the most important to you, I'd just list that request plus your smoking preference.

It never hurts to include requests, but the more restrictive you are and the more you get your hopes up, the more disappointed you may be in the end.

Is there a restaurant/store in the Congress Park section? I'm planning to call tomorrow to make my ressie and can't decide between the Springs or CP. While a view of DtD would be nice, I think I'd rather be closer to the pool, spa and other activities.

SSR is our home resort and we have stayed there twice in the past year. We stayed in a two BR in Congress Park last January. We have a view of DTD and were very close to the walkway to get to DTD. We like that part of the location. It was a wonderful room and we had no complaints. All of the buildings in Congress Park are close to the quiet pool there. Now that The Springs has opened up, you can be closer to the theme pool and AP with the store. There is no other store or restaurant on property. If you are in Congress Park, a 5 minute walk will have you at DTD and you can eat at any of their restaurants. We love Earl of Sandwich. We just got back from a stay in The Springs. We were in a 1 BR for the first night and then we switched to a 2BR. We paid cash for the 1 BR and points when we moved to the 2BR. We love this resort. It is going to be big, but we are walkers and you can get to just about anything in the resort within 10 minutes. I guess if you had small children and they were walking, it would take longer.

Good luck with making your choice of where to stay! I think you will like certain things about each location.

I phoned MS on Thursday and put in a request for Congress Park facing DTD.

Great review. I'm going to call tomorrow and request Congress Park.
