We are looking to buy into DVC. Our goal is to stay at SSR, but we are going to buy a Vero resale. Our intentions are to own DVC for 8-10 years. What are our chances of being able to get into SSR? We will not be booking stays at the busiest times of the year, such as Easter and Christmas. We have read many of the comments here about SSR and it sems to have many fans. We would hate to spend all this money, and not be able to stay at SSR, it is our favorite resort. We really enjoy watching the info on the Disney site about SSR. The resort is perfect, and by far our favorite. We have never actualy been to Orlando, but have looked into all the info on the www

Since it is the largest resort and you are not looking for peak times you should be fine. SSR is a gorgeous resort and my personal favorite :-)

But doesn't it also have the largest number of owners? Wouldn't that mean that even though it is the largest, it would still fill up as quick as the others due to being in such demand?

I do think you are right about us being ok, because we won't be trying to book our rooms during the peak seasons.

Depends who you ask. The topic of SSR demand is hotly debated over in DVC-Mousecellaneous. Some don't believe it has enough to draw demand.

Either way, as of right now SSR availability is usually good after 7 months. The one exception is Grand Villas and handicap rooms which are a smaller part of inventory.

Also keep in mind, busy times for DVC are not just Christmas and Easter. The beginning of December is in high demand.

The resort is expected to sell out this year. How demand will change over the years is anyone's guess. That's why many advocate buying where you want to stay. Then if a resort becomes popular you will least likely be shut out of your preference for stays.

Exactly why are you buying Vero when you want to stay at SSR? Vero has higher maintenance fees and its not on DisneyWorld property. You're opening yourself up to not being able to get a room in Orlando.

We own at HH and have booked at BWV 2 months out andat OKW in Dec 2 months out. SSR was available both times as well. You will find a room at a DVC if you are not picky about where. It is harder in Dec and a few other times a year.
I do agree that Vero is not the cheapest way though
