We are looking at booking either a studio at Saratoga Springs or at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. We have no kids and are wondering what people think. We will have a car so getting around is not an issue.

Given that choice, I would always pick VWL. I (we) love the area and rent bikes or boats when we just want a resort day. We bike, or walk, to the campground, there's no petting zoo any more, but there still are horses to see, and we enjoy eating at Trail's end.

We stayed at SSR, and we think it's lovely, we just prefer VWL. If a person wanted to visit DTD the way we like to visit the Campgrounds, I could easily see you chosing SSR over VWL.

If you like a quiet, small personal type space, the VWL is the place for you. It is themed like the Pacific Northwest. If you like a bit more activity and a more urban style, then SSR might be your choice. In neither case would you need a car.

I've stayed at both and definitely have a preference, but they are both wonderful places to stay. If you'd prefer to be closer to Downtown Disney for the "nightlife", SSR is the place to be. If you'd rather be closer to the MK and the other MK resorts, then VWL is calling you. If you don't care what you're closer to, I suggest the "coin" flip method of resort determination. Whichever resort "loses" this time, can be your first choice next time.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for ALL of your suggestions. That is what we thought about the two resorts. We have heard that Downtown Disney will be limited to what will be open in April(Pleasure Island and West Side), has anyone heard the same?

ssr is my home resort....and tho i have only stayed at vwl one time to the three times at ssr it seemed to me vwl just was more peaceful and had lots of eye candy, however at times it could get crowded...im happy with either
