Cost aside, if we would like to stay half the time at BCV and half the time at SSR or OKW does it make sense to split contracts, or just get the BCV contract to almost guarantee our stays there, and follow up at the 7 mo window for SSR or OKW?

Just trying to add to my wealth of knowledge (aka confusion) :)

I'd say buy BCV as you will generally always get a reservation at SSR/OKW at the 7 month window. BUT if the extra 10ish years on the contract matter to you, go for half and half or just SSR.

SSR dues are cheaper than BCV.

Split contracts are always a good idea, but you're likely to be able to get SSR or OKW at 7 months most of the time. I, personally, would not purchase a contract larger than 200 points because of the potential difficulty reselling it later. So, depending on how many points you intend to purchase, it may make sense to buy two smaller contracts - even if they are for the same resort.

Conventional wisdom here is that SSR and OKW will always be available at 7 mos. I'm not sure I'd bank on that though. For the short term of right now or even the next couple years probably, but who knows how membership growth will affect these resorts in 5-10 years. (For instance if DVC builds more offsite resorts that put added pressure on onsite resorts.)

If you're intended practice is to always split your stays at your two favorite home resorts then I think you'd be better off investing ownership in both. Otherwise you might one day find yourself locked out of your chosen time.
