We are taking our DD (turning 4 on the trip) and our 18 month old (at time of trip). This is our first trip as DVCers. We will have a rental car. Is there anything I should request when I check in? Should I request a certain area to stay?

Any good advice is welcome as we have built this up, BIG TIME, for my DD birthday.

Some people really like congress park so they can walk to DTD, but if you have the car you could either drive to DTD or park at congress and take the walk to DTD. The springs is nice since you are by the main pool and the food area. We liked the paddock since our building was near the first bus stop in the resort. On a seperate note keep your plans realistic, doing Disney with a 4 year old and a 18 month old can be challenging. No matter way you stay you'll have a great time. Enjoy!:thumbsup2

We went last year when our dds where 4 and 20m. We stayed in the Springs section. It worked out well for us. We were close to the main pool and AP, and close to the bus stop. When coming back from the parks, we would get off in the Paddocks, (I think that is the section across the pond from the Springs), and would walk across the bridge to get to our room rather than drive the bus all the way around.
The Grandstand section would be nice as well as it is the first on/off for the bus stops. Our kids prefered the main pool over the Grandstand pool because of the zero depth entry and the slide.
Its a beautiful resort and is our dds favorite thus far because of the pool.
Have fun.

The Grandstand area is our favorite for two reasons: It is the first bus stop and if you are in the two buildings on the eastern side, you are just as close to walking to the main HH area as almost anywhere. This is of course if you get the buildings with room numbers from 8101 - 8436 abd 8501 - 8836. If you are in the other two, you have a longer walk.

We stayed in the Grandstand area when our son was 13 months old and he loved the pool there. It's smaller and quieter but has a sprinkler area that's a lot of fun.

We have only stayed at SSR for one time and one night - used all of our initial points on a cruise. We stayed at Congress and enjoyed being able to walk to DTD. We did take a drive around all of the sections and got out to look at the pools and playgrounds. When we stay at "home" again, we will request Grandstands due to its layout and its proximity to the main pool. I do not recall seeing a playground at Grandstand - if that is important to you.

And I agree with the other poster, keep your plans realistic and be sure to enjoy a mid-afternoon naps (all of you :) )

fyi the springs pool slide will be refurbed in sept. also the play sprinkler area in grandstand was all boarded up when we were there in the first week of july, i believe springs pool will still be open but no slide:eek: does anyone know if play area is done with the work yet?

The Grandstand play/sprinkler area is still boarded up. Have not heard a reopen date. We will keep asking.

I hope the kids play area is back up and running by the end of September! I've requested Grandstand for our trip.

I did read that they are going to be working on the slide for basically my whole trip, so being close to that pool is not as important. I am thinking that the Grandstand area is the place to request.

Thanks for eveybody's input.

I've got a little different opinion from the others here...I'd perfer Congress Park. Granted you are one of the last stops when you come back at night, but that means you don't have to ride all around the resort when you are trying to get to the park in the morning. You get on the bus, have one stop and then are on the way to the parks. They have a quiet pool (no slides) that is nice for the kiddos to play in, and you have a short walk to DTD. I think that you can't go wrong wherever they put you as SSR is awesome!

I liked the Springs with my little ones because the pool, Artist's Palette, etc., are so close. The bus service from the Springs left a little to be desired since it is the last stop and we had to wait for another bus from time to time.
