Excuse the lack of grammer, but it is early.
Just returned from SSR, April 30th May 6th. First trip to home resort.
Stayed at POR on April 29th, then moved over to SSR. Room was not ready, so DW, DDaughter and I went to AK. Upon returning at 4:30 we were assigned 1BD in Congress Park. 2714 on third floor with view of Planet Hollywood and Bongos. This is the last building before the gazebo. I timed the walk to the bus stop at 1.5 minutes. The main pool deck was 4.5 minutes. Quiet pool was about a minute (down the back staircase and around the corner).
I saw a bobcat on Tuesday morning around 6:30. I was near the tennis/basketball courts looking back at CP. There is a spit of land with water on both sides, going out toward the lake and golf course. The cat was grey, maybe 50 or 60 lbs and had a short, stubby tail. The cat was very timid, when it became aware of me, it disappeared into the bushes along the bank. I looked every morning after that, but never saw it again. The CM I reported this to said they are common on Disney property. He said by the time they would send someone over, the cat would be gone. He was right. He did mention that in the past, Florida black panthers have been spotted on rare occasions.
The room was great. The view of DD at night with lights reflecting on the lake was excellent. We walked back from Raglan Road one night. There was a lot of noise from PI (a live remote by one of the local radio stations). You could hear the DJ at CP quite pool. Back in the room, we could not hear a thing. I opened the balcony door and listened to the music, shut the door and complete silence. Whatever SSR is using for soundproofing, it is working.
Longest wait for a bus was 17 minutes at the CP bus stop. I have never had this kind of luck with Disney transport before. The busses were mostly full to overfilled. I saw 3 MK busses in a row a couple of mornings. The first would be filled just from the Paddocks, and then the other 2 would pick up at CP and the Springs. My wife mentioned how our busses always seemed to be waiting for us.
On May 5th, they had large white tents set up by the new buildings under construction in the Paddocks. This was not for members. I think it was for the Disney employees. It looked like a Cinco De Mayo celebration, a lot of fun. I could not see any details of the Fairway Villas. The structures are pretty much up and two were beyond the framing stage. I could not see any sort of pool or pond layout.
Turf Club Restaurant is still under construction. AP had good food and a larger selection of groceries than I had expected. No pool chair problems at the main or quiet pool. The pool bar never seemed to have a line, just walk up and order. Diet coke with lime and a large bottle of water.
The parks ranged from nice to beyond capacity. Animal Kingdom was packed on May 6th. I think Expedition Everest is a success. Lots of High School groups and kids of that age. Getting to the parks at opening still worked. Walked onto Soarin, Thunder Mountain and Rock n Rollercoaster for those respective parks. Expedition Everest was fast past, I could not get DW to outrun all the competition that morning. A very popular ride.
MCO was less than a half hour drive in rental car. DW and I drove DD back to airport on Wednesday. We dropped her off, stopped at Goodys for water and snacks and were back at SSR in 1 hour and 5 minutes (2:55 PM to 4:00 PM).
