Left Michigan for Orlando on April 1st. Checked into SSR around noon. Placed park tickets in safe immediately upon entering room (and left them there all week). Got dressed for Florida (swimsuit, sunglasses, book) and headed to quiet pool. Stayed there until checkout. Returned to Michigan on April 6th. Perfect trip.

The End.

Short and Sweet!:thumbsup2

What quiet pool did you stay at? The new Grandstand?

Sounds like a great vacation. DW and I love spending a lot of time at any of the quiet pools reading or playing scrabble.

Liferbabe:

No, we stayed at Congress Park, but we did check out the new Grandstand pool. Very nice for a quiet pool, but unfortunately we were only there a short time because my 8 year old head-butted another little girl and we had to rush 'home' for some ice. Typical trip for "Hurricane" Anna.

Now that's a good trip report. Short and to the point.

Meanwhile the rest of us stayed up north and froze to death. Easter Sunday felt more like Christmas.

Glad you had a great trip.

So would you please tell me how you manage to get your 8 yo DD to agree to staying out of the parks the whole time? I'm lucky if I can take a whole day off.

Glad you had a nice relaxing trip!

Did you see any of the evening movies at the pool?

We were at SSR in Congress Park at the same time!! We never went to the quiet pools, we just hung out at the main pool every afternoon. The weather was perfect for lounging poolside! I'm sure we crossed paths somewhere.

I didn't know this was available! We are staying at SSR (booked through Disney Travel) the week of Christmas. I really don't know what perks are available at SSR. Is there a list somewhere that tells you movies are shown at the pool each night and other activities? How can I find out the movie schedule? I know the FW movie schedule is always available the month before over on the camping board.

To the OP: did you dine at the Turf Club?

Hello fellow Michigander (and from GR to boot, we live in Wyoming/Grandville area).

Glad you had a good trip!

Great Report, well except really sorry about DD's head accident.

Hope she is now doing well~

Wow, 7 straight days in the pool? You must have been all wrinkly! :)

Glad you had a great time.

I always check FW's movie schedule before leaving home too! The movies at the pool at SSR are a new thing and may not be something offered year round.

You should get the activities for the week you are at the resort in your Welcome Packet and I know that the Concierge desk at VWL was able to help me when I forgot the movie at FW for a particular night. I don't know if there's a posted movie schedule for SSR, that would tip the scale toward a stay at that resort if there was one.

Actually, it wasn't too difficult. We managed to keep both of the girls (12 and 8) pretty busy with all the various activities around SSR (ceramics painting, bike rentals, etc.), walks, swimming, DDP, "Meet the Robinsons" at AMC, and so on.

And when all else failed, I would just hand my wife my wallet and turn them all loose on DTD. This is always an expensive option, but it is very effective.

LOL!! I agree! I have no problems with my boys, they never want to leave all the resort activities to go to the parks. They set play dates for Community Hall, I loved the ceramics, walks, shuffleboard et all.

And Meet The Robinsons:thumbsup2 KEEP MOVING FORWARD:wizard:

When you check in the CM will give you a check-in package READ ALL OF IT!! There is a great little calandar of events most of which are free (or very small price) every day! My kids love the crafts, pool party, and can't wait for the pool -side movies, (new this year)... Have a great trip.
