How much time should I allow if driving from SSR to MK (TTC)? We'll there on a high crowd level day, so I want to get to rope drop (or earlier). If MK has an 8am opening should we be leaving SSR by 7? 7:15?

I know we'll need to park at the TTC and then take a monorail or ferry since my MIL will be using a ECV.

Thanks!

With an ecv on a high level MK crowd day, if you want to be at or near the front of the crowd, I would leave SSR an hour and a half early if you're driving.

Alternatively, MK is the one park where it really makes more sense to take Disney bus transportation, even when you have your own car. The buses let off near the front gate and you don't need to park, walk, and then ferry or monorail to get there. (Although if you're at the treehouses, that negates the bus advantage with the need to transfer between buses.)

If you go by bus from any of the non-treehouse SSR areas, I'd be standing in the bus stop right at an hour before rope drop and you should have success.

If this a day where they might close the park in levels you will not be allowed in if they go to the stage that prohibits car traffic.

I would take the bus.

I would also take the bus. Parking and walking to the ferry/monorail and waiting can take much longer. Bus doesn't share with another resort and will go directly to MK.

Request the Grandstand section and you will be the 1st stop at SSR and should be able to get the ECV on the bus before it fills up.

If you really want to drive I would leave at least an hour before rope drop.

Thank you everyone, that's incredibly helpful information. This is MILs first time using an ECV and I don't know if she'll heed my advice and practice with one before the trip. I was going to avoid buses as it seemed like it would be more of a hassle with her taking long and holding up the bus/other guests. But, that may be our best option as you all said.

We're having dinner at the Contemporary that night, will we be allowed to park there for a few hours in the evening with the dinner ADR and showing we are DVC members? I'd like to walk back to MK after dinner.

Thanks again!! This is why we have a "make up" trip planned for January without any extended family ;)

Yes you can park at Contemporary if you have an on-property ADR.

You technically should park at TTC if you're going to MK after dinner. But once you're allowed in the lot for dinner, they probably aren't going to tow you if you don't leave on time.
