We are a party of 8 with two on scooters (they can walk for a short distance). What would be our best way to get there?? We aren't against taking taxis, but how far of a walk would it be from entrance of FW to Pioneer Hall.

You have to take the internal bus. I'd think it would be easier to do bus to mk and boat to ft wilderness. HDdr is close to the bus.

taxi is not going to help in that they are not allowed at Pioneer Hall and it is about a mile walk from other end. as others have said take the boat from MK and larger ones can fit ECVs. you did not ask but be prepared to have to enter Pioneer Hall at Trails End and be taken thru the special door as all others have steps. at least that was true last time I was there. if MK is open after show ends I would plan on taking boat back to MK then bus to your resort even if buses are at bus stop as they go to more than one resort

Sometimes one of the boats from MK to FtW is a smaller launch. If you happen to arrive at that time, you would have to wait for a larger cruiser.

Since you have a large party, I would plan for the possibility of splitting into 2 groups in case the bus arriving at your stop at SSR has room for only one scooter. You could wait for the next bus, but there's no guarantee that that one will have room for 2. You can reassemble near the boat dock, or at FtW. Don't wait for the rest of the group where you get off at MK, as incoming buses may drop off at any of the 34 load zones, regardless of where they originated.

To answer your original question, the walking distance from the Outpost bus depot, where the resort buses drop off, to Pioneer Hall & Hoop De Do is about 1.2 mi. It's walkable if you're fit, but the internal shuttle bus is the way to go. The walk from the boat dock to Pioneer Hall is less than 5 minutes.

I have never had issues with taking the internal bus at FW, but some people seem to dread it. As another option on the taxi, you could also take the taxi to WL. Then take the bus from WL to FW. Even if you have to wait for the bus, it is not a busy bus so you should have no trouble getting both scooters on the bus and it should only take a few minutes to get between the resorts. You could also walk from WL to FW, but depending on the time, it might be too dark out.

My advice taxi to FW. My family has been to Hoop Dee Doo twice, family of 4 with kids. We are DVC Members and Saratoga is our home resort.
On our last visit we decided to take a taxi to FW. It was faster and less hasstle. When we got to FW we used the internal bus to get to Pioneer Hall which in our case has never been busy. So loading two scooters should not be a problem. Don't plan on walking. The boat ride to FW from WL can be slow and hot depending on the weather. If not going by taxi consider how much time you will waste with so many stops, Saratoga to MK to FW, or Saratoga to WL and boat to FW. And you still wait for FW internal bus to Pioneer Hall.
Saratoga should be able to set up a taxi/van to get your entire party over to FW. If not going by taxi then I would bus to WL, at least the boat stop is close to Pioneer Hall.

If the scooters are full sized rather than travel sized, it may not be possible to get them into the taxi. Some rental scooters do not break apart at all. I think the OP said the scooter riders could walk short distances, implying that the scooters might not be needed if they took taxis.

The boat from MK to FtW docks at the Settlement; no internal bus is needed. The walk from the Settlement boat dock to Pioneer Hall is just slightly longer than the walk from the Settlement bus stop; either is under 1/4 mi.

For a party of 8, 2 taxis would be needed. The vans take 7 passengers max.

There is no bus from SSR to WL or to FtW. There is a bus from MK to WL, and a bus from WL to Pioneer Hall.

So the options are:
  1. 2 taxis to FtW Outpost, then internal bus to Settlement, and short walk to Pioneer Hall, probably leaving scooters at resort.
  2. Bus to MK, boat to FtW Settlement, and short walk or scooter ride to Pioneer Hall.
  3. Bus to MK, bus to WL, bus to FtW Settlement, and short walk or scooter ride.
  4. Bus to Epcot, bus to FtW Outpost, then internal bus to Settlement, and short walk or scooter ride to Pioneer Hall.
