We are staying at SSR next year and are not hiring a car how far is it to the Hess garage walking as was thinking that I'd just get bread and a few other essentials from here for breakfast. We are on DDP so its really only bread and maybe water that's cheaper than at the parks/hotels that we are bothered about.

It's definitely not walkable Jackie - not only is it a fair trek but there are no footpaths. You can get bread and stuff from Artists Pallette at SSR though.

Thanks David. We will do that then I'm sure bread won't break the bank. We will probably be using our refillable mugs as much as possible for drinks. :goodvibes

:scared1:done this walk many times ,we usually stay in congress park and it takes me 15 min to walk to the hess garage.
The route is easy and all pavement ,you just walk to downtown disney using the SSR walkway and pass the downtown disney bus station.then you head to the new restaurant T-Rex which is near the bus station at planet Hollywood.then you head over the road using the cross walk then your there
Easy peasy
if you use the windy path at back of shops to Downtown disney it takes 2o if you cut across the car parks as i said it takes 15 min
If staying in the grandstand section its again a 15-20 min journey as you go the opposite route to westside from SSR heading from the rear of Artist palette

if you go to http://willcad.org/disney_maps.shtml and click on the map for SSR the walkway to Downtown disney is marked
We use hess for the beers as they comparable with offsite supermarkets and not disney prices

I stand corrected. I think I was thinking of the wrong Hess Garage.

EDIT: Nope, had the right one it's just closer to DTD than I thought it was.

Well thanks to both of you. :goodvibes Will probably first check out how much bread is at Artists Palette and if it's to much we will have to pop down to Hess it's not that much of a walk and if flights are on time we would be going over to DTD no doubt anyway.

Hi Paul. We usually get a town car with supermarket stop but this year we get Magical Express, so will be looking to the Hess for 2 weeks stock of beer & water. Whilst we will follow the route on the way there, I was wondering what to do on the way back, can you get a taxi from there?
