SSR through Disney or resale?

We're looking to add more DVC points (currently own 170 @ BWV). I'm not necessarily hung up on getting the points at a specific resort - we like to bounce around the various DVC resorts.

Looks like Disney is offering a discount on SSR points (15%). Looking through the Timeshare Store, it looks like the cost/point on a resale is higher. Am I missing something?

I don't think you are missing anything - the current incentive does make resale less of a savings, especially if the contract is stripped or the seller expects the buyer to pay closing.

As always, you need to evaluate each contract that meets your criteria on its individual merits and then compare it to what Disney is offering.

Best wishes -

I don't think you're misssing anything. The benefit of buying SSR points through Disney right now is the incentive, and additonally they will provide financing for you if you need it.

It's usually a year or two after a new resort opens, once the incetive is gone and the "stripped" contracts have been taken care of, that the resale market is a better value. At least, that has been my observation. I have been a member since 1997, so SSR is the 3rd "opening" that I have observed.
