SSR theme pool construction Question

Any recent (or current) visitors to SSR have an opinion on the impact that the construction project in the Paddock quiet pool is going to have this summer when the resort is at FULL capacity?

The Carrousel was always "no man's land" with the longest walk to a quiet pool, now that entire area is going to be without a pool.

We are going home in August, and are concerned because we spend lots of time at the pool, and figure we will be camping out the night before to get beach chairs for the family...

Timeshare resorts are designed to be a full capacity year-round. In actuality that isn't always true but I suspect August is among the slower periods at DVC resorts due to many members shunning the hot summer months.

The Paddock pool wasn't particularly well used by guests in the first place. There will be added overflow to the other pools when The Paddock isn't available, but it won't be much worse than it would otherwise be in the summer months when overall pool demand is high.

I agree with tjkraz.

IMO the percentage of guests who regularly opt for the quiet pool over over the theme pool is small and those who do, very well may choose another quiet pool.

I do think that once completed, the overall occupancy at SSR may increase since many of the "complaints" have to do with CS options & resort size/feeling out in no man's land. The new themed pool area should, in theory, change that perception.

Is the new pool area just going to answer guest complaints about lack of CS and pool theming or will it add a unique element to SSR that some of the other DVC resorts have, i.e., AKL=animals; BCV=awesome pool; BLT=monorail? I'm curious about how popular SSR may become with this addition.

I was staying in a studio in The Carousel in the week leading up to Easter, so my mum and I visited the pool area twice to do laundry.

We were trying to figure out just how big the new pool was going to be, and whether the playground and laundry room were going to be taken out, or if it was just going to be the pool, spa and the barbecue area.

Both times we went the pool was in use, and this was at 10 at night, I think that The Paddock rooms will get a lot more noise than they are currently used to, if the pool is going to be anything like the main pool, which was constantly noisy at all hours of the day and night.

I don't know that I would go that far. I can't see many people bypassing Stormalong Bay for SSR just because of the new pool. But it will definitely add to the appeal of the resort.

Yes the entire area will be demolished. The redesigned pool area will extend further out into what is currently the parking lot (or at least the buffer between the adjacent parking lots.)

The pool itself will be about 3/4 the size of the High Rock Spring pool. Plus they are also adding hot tubs, the slide, a water play area, restaurant and a larger sun deck.
