I was a little bored and starting thinking.... if SAB is soooo popular at BC/YC, why don't they build a mini waterpark like that at SSR?

I think if SSR had a "GREAT" pool like that and more convenient dining options, perhaps more folks from the other DVC resorts would want to stay there.

Just thoughts that i felt like putting down.

Maybe they'll make their way to the DVC folks who will put in this nice new pool with the new construction! :rolleyes1

I believe tjkraz once wrote a response about why DVC wouldn't consider doing this in the future. Something having to do with upkeep, etc.

I had thoughts along this line.... not a whole SAB, but perhaps a section or two added to the new pool. How about a lazy river? That may not be too much $$ to maintain or insurance. Would you need a lifeguard? It would also fit in the Saratoga theme; floating down a creek. Or how about a sandy bottom shallow swim area like SAB?? That might be higher to maintain but would be fun!

I think that's a great idea! I'd be very happy to be at SSR with a pool like that.

Bobbi :goodvibes

PS. Then I got to thinking. Imagine all the people parking at DTD carrying coolers, towels and walking over to SSR. If busses are a "problem" this could be a headache.

Vascubaguy - you have WAY too much time on your hands . . . :rolleyes1

fortunately, you use that time well - cool idea!

Keep 'em coming! :sunny:

Oh! I'm in on that one! We're looking at a SSR add-on right now, so that would be sweet! Nothing as elaborate as SAB would be needed, but a lazy river would be wonderful. They have the space there. I do think they need to plan a sit-down restaurant. Even with DTD right there - it would be nice to have that available, and as the resort nears completion - there will be plenty of people staying there to use the restaurant. An addition to the pool area would really help with the small pool size vs. the large resort size. We really enjoyed the pool - it's very nice, but it is small for a large resort.

I can't take credit for the comment, but I've heard others state many times that Disney has said (source unknown) that they will never build a pool on that scale again because it would eat into waterpark profits. Hard to argue with that logic.

Besides, SSR already has pleanty of unique features. Best spa in the program. Only golf course clubhouse in the program. One of the best views (Downtown Disney) in the program. No, it isn't everyone's cup of tea. Variety is good!!!

Aha! Waterpark profits. I knew there was some sort of cogent reasoning lurking abour somewhere. Thanks for the reminder, tjkraz.
