SSR ROFR Will We Make It???

Hi Friends!!! I just agreed on a price for 160 points at SSR at $78 a point. We get all the points this year and a few banked points. Do you think it will make it through ROFR??? We are very excited to have a DVC membership and are a little worried.

It's close, but it doesn't mean it won't. It seems very few have been refused lately, so I'll send some extra pixie dust your way!!!

We passed ROFR at the end of March at $60 per point for VB. When I called around to see if/what contracts brokers had available, I was flat out told $60 per point would almost certainly be snapped back up by Dis. The contract had all 07 points and all 08 points coming. I paid 08 MFs and seller paid closing and $195 fee. So, you just never know. If this one doesn't pass, there will be another around the corner. Don't be discouraged. You'll also know how low is too low, even though DVC is not always 100% consistent in what they buy back.

Best of luck on this one, though! My thoughts are with you, as I know how much you want to pass when you make the offer!!!

As an SSR owner, I hope not. I'd like to think that a full-point SSR resale is worth more than that but still I wish you good luck.

I'll step out on a limb here...I think you'll pass since DVC has so many projects in the works right now, they don't seem to be using their ROFR lately.

2 weeks ago - 160 with 110 banked from '06, and about 130 current points. Check the "anyone passed rofr" thread - they're keeping it updated as to what is and is not getting through.

It's nail-biting time! Haven't we all gone through something like this? Maybe this is the initiation ritual. That sounds like a great deal. Especially since it has the points with it. I hope it goes through. It sounds like you did your homework. You will be very happy with your membership.

Thanks! I just hope we get everything squared away to plan our summer vacation. I have been looking into this for a long time and finally decided it was time to take the plunge. Its nice to know that our vacations will be so much easier to plan... for the rest of our lives!!!

Pastornick, just a word of caution. It sounds as though you are considering getting this in place for a vacation this summer. Is this correct? If it is, you may have some difficulty that you need to be aware of. It can take up to 2 months to close on a resale putting you into late June/July before you close. At that time, the likelihood of having availability at a DVC this summer is pretty low (I have not yet closed, and do not know, but I'm guessing it may be sold out most of the summer now).

If you really want to use it this summer, you might want to consider spending a little extra on a contract direct with Disney and making a summer reservation a contingency for the sale. It would cost you more, but if you add the cost of cash reservations this summer to your resale contract, it starts to balance out with the SSR incentives currently available.

We are probably going to book a non-Disney vacation using cash for this year in Sea Pines in Hilton Head. We just need a good family vacation. This year has been great but filled with changes.
