I don't frequent the DVC forums often, so forgive me if this has already been posted, but I struggled to find the information and thought I'd share what I've learnt.

I came across a review on Trip Advisor in which the author stated that the refurbishments would be carried out in a counter-clockwise fashion, taking 2-4 months per section. I contacted the reviewer asking for the source of the information and she responded saying that she'd phoned the resort and was given the following information:

Congress Park - completed
Springs - 07/01/12-09/21/12
Paddock - 09/21/12-03/03/13
Carousel - 03/03/13-05/10/13
Grandstand - 05/10/13-08/03/13

Not strictly counter-clockwise, but that ceases to be important once you have the precise detail.

Obviously I have no idea whether this will turn out to be accurate, but it seems fairly specific. It will certainly help me narrow down my requests for our November trip and I thought others might find it useful, too.

Hi Debbie,
Thanks for the post. I wasn't aware that there was refurbishment work at SSR. We are staying for six nights from 3rd July.
You say Congress Park is complete - is this all rooms. We are in a studio (DH and DD and myself).
Not stayed here before but was thinking of putting in a request for Congress Park as is near Downtown Disney. What do you think ? Any recommendations for good rooms/locations welcome ? Wouldn't want to stay near refurbishment work ! Do you have any more details ?
Thanks.

Congress Park is not completed, here now and the have several trucks, trailers, and crews working.

We are in a completed room, paint touched up, new drapes, chairs, sofa, throw pillows, and carpet. Don't really care for the carpet pattern but the room looks fresh and new. :goodvibes

when we were there memorial day weekend, the Congress Park bus stop was all torn up and they had a makeshift setup in the parking lot.

Has that been completed now?

So do you think it would be too much to ask for a "completed" room? Do you think the front desk would know which ones are completed at the time of check in? I know, not guaranteed anything.. but maybe worth a try??

Congress bus stop is still fenced off and I don't see any activity there. I am wondering if they are implementing Next Gen or is it just a repair job.

No Next Gen RFID door locks yet.

No sleeper chair, not enough room really.

We did get new bed spreads too! :goodvibes

The order of the rooms is correct, the times are just a guideline and might or might not be accurate as there can always be delays.

Another observation, the sleeper sofa has 4 boards now that have 4, 4 inch foam mattress sections. Our sofa had one of mattresses folded in two and it jammed the bed frame and it would not unfold. It took 3 people to get the bed unfolded. The front edge of the bed frame hits the back of your thighs when you are sitting on the sofa, not really comfortable.

We liked the old sofa better.

That's the order that the sections were opened after construction.

That sounds like the old sofa and from the looks of the photos, they look the same except for new fabric.

If they got new ones they are the exact same size and shape and cushions.

We don't use the sleeper sofa very often so it may be the same. I thought that the old sofas had a web or fabric supporting the mattress. This sofa has a board.

Not at SSR. The original sleeper sofa was a flat platform like the newer ones at the various resorts.

Of course; that goes without saying. :) If the information is accurate, though, in terms of the schedule they're working to, it certainly gives me a lot more to work with than simply knowing the order being worked. In light of what disneynutz says, though, it clearly isn't entirely accurate.

Still working at Congress Park today, 9 trucks belonging to different companies parked in the lot. Painters and carpet layers were coming and going. Furniture is staged in the parking lot waiting to be moved into the rooms.

Bus stop asphalt is torn up and men were working in the shelter area.

True, I was told that Congress Park would take until the end of June.

We aren't travelling until October but my daughter is hoping for September so this is really handy, thankyou.

Bill, does the work look as though it will be complete by July? Just trying to decide whether to request Congress or Grandstand.
Thanks.
