Because of ricapito's post on Air-Tran Airways specials, DW and I are thinking of a quick 2 day getway from the DKiddies, hopefully to our home away from home - SSR.

Since we normally only drive to WDW, is there shuttle service from the airport to DVC sites or do we use the Disney contracted taxi service?

There's no special shuttle for DVC. You can go with Mears, a taxi or a limo company. Check over on the transportation board.

We've had excellent service from Tiffany Town Car (don't like Mears - too crowded, too long of a wait at airport, and too many stops on way to our resort.) If it's a short trip, you might also look at rental car specials. We have rented a car for less than $20/day in Orlando using discount codes which ended up cheaper than roundtrip transportation for two and gave us the convenience of having a car on-site.

I second the Tiffany Towncar recommendation. They pick you up right at the bottom of the escalater in the baggage claim area and take you to the car out front then right to your hotel. On the day of departure they pick you up at a designated time at your hotel and straight to the airport. You can even take a short stop at the grocery store to buy supplies at no extra cost. I think its around $80 round trip now.

If it is only two people, Mears is less expensive than private services like Tiffany Towncar, Happy Limo, Fl Tours, etc. Your other alternative is a regular taxi in which plenty are readily available where the other shuttle pickups are -- by baggage claim.

MEARS is currently $29 roundtrip per adult so it's not much cheaper for a much greater convenience.

Thanks everyone, its official we're going to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary home at SSR in August!

I was able to book a studio at SSR from August 2nd to the 5th for the DW and me (no kiddies).

I also got 2 round trip tickets from Air-Tran Airways from Bal-mur (BWI) to Orlando for $313.40 total!

Since we're doing the family trip in January 05, we're going to wait and get the AP's when we get down there in August. Can anyone advise otherwise?

I don't know when AP prices traditionally increase, but you might consider buying the AP vouchers ahead of time either through the Disney Store or online to protect against a price increase before your trip.

The AP price just recently increased -- which was the first increase in almost 2 years. I doubt they'll increase again in the next year.
