Is DVC selling SSR right now? Treehouse Villas? Who has the info...$pp, etc?

Just added on at BLT and didn't realize that the contract length at SSR wasn't too much shorter than our AKV contract. I don't know why I thought they expired so much earlier...We are still within our 10 days and Lord help me - I am actually considering switching to SSR if the price is right.

A resale contract at SSR can be purchased easily in the low 60's per point. You will need about 4 to 6 weeks to wrap things up but the savings will make it worth the wait.

So you just bought at BLT, but can get out of it within 10 days just to buy an SSR contract instead???? I know that some people buy based on what they can afford despite wanting to stay elsewhere and SSR can be much cheaper than BLT, but is this your motivation? I was just wondering why you'd buy at BLT and switch to SSR when these are two very different resorts. I mean, if you don't mind divulging your line of thought as it may open my eyes to an aspect of the decision making process I didn't see before. Thanks.

I would only switch to SSR to save a little money really - plus we LOVE the resort. But we know that having the priority at BLT would be nice too - but maybe not at the expense of another $15 per point. I don't think I even thought about asking my guide about SSR because for whatever reason, I thought that the contract expired a LOT sooner than it does. I didn't do my research - just wanted more points. We initially bought 160 at AKV when we had 1 child. After buying we were pleasantly surprised to learn we were expecting another. Now that she is starting to walk, we wanted more points to start booking 1 bedrooms instead of studios. We usually stay 4-6 times a year for about 3-5 nights and that was easy on 160 pts in a studio really. We live really close to the parks, go off-peak and last minute and don't go unless we can get a low points room. It's more about just being on property than having a super nice room for us but we know we are going to start needing more room pretty soon.

As far as buy where you want to stay - we LOVE LOVE LOVE SSR and have stayed there about a dozen times. We never have trouble getting a reservation there though - so we didn't think having a booking priority there was necessary - but maybe the treehouse villas someday would be nice to be able to book.

I don't know really. Now I am just a flustered mess. IMy guide said that BLT is going to be entering sell out around December and we didn't plan on buying our next contract for about another year or two and it might be nice to own there. Of course, my guide tells me to expect announcements in December about "what's next" for DVC so maybe we switch to SSR now and look forward to hearing what the upcoming resorts are going to be? Thanks for letting me talk all of this out. Suggestions, advice, bashing, is OK with me :)

When BLT sales began, the Guides were saying the resort would sell out in 3 months. Now that sales have been taking place for well over a year, the resort is only half sold out. With the recent price per point increase, I don't see BLT selling out anytime soon.

My numbers could be a little off because I don't follow direct prices, but it seems to me that your options are roughly priced this way:
  • BLT direct +/- $110 per point
  • SSR direct $95 per point
  • SSR resale +/-$65 per point

At just a little more than half the price of BLT, I'd sure be taking a long, hard look at SSR resale. That's $45 per point lower than the BLT price!

Once the glow wears off BLT, you'll be able to get ressies there at 7 months.

I would invite you to check out the listings at The Timeshare Store, Inc.® while you are still in your period to cancel. Our website is www.dvcstore.com and we do get new listings in everyday.
