We've got a 2 bedroom lockoff reserved next month. Does the 1 bedroom portion have a balcony off the master bedroom? I've looked through several pictures on the web, and I just can't tell. Just wondering?

Erin, we were in a 2 BR lock-off at Thanksgiving. The master bedroom did NOT have a balcony. There was a balcony off of the living room, and one off of the studio portion. Hope this helps. I'm not sure what the situation is if you get a dedicated 2 BR. Perhaps someone else knows.

The norm would be one balcony for a dedicated (off the living room) and two for a lockoff (off the living room and second bedroom.) I can't say with 100% certainty whether there are any rooms that would vary from the norm, but it seems unlikely.

Our dedicated 2BR had a balcony only off the living room. It was the only negative thing I found about the resort (which we were absolutely enchanted with) as a small area with 2 chairs and a small table is quite a small amount of room for an accommodation which can sleep up to 8 people. JMO and as I say we absolutely fell in love with SSR overall and can't wait to get back there again!

Yeah, it was an unfortunate design decision that DVD made after Old Key West. The OKW balconies are great--they have a round table with four chairs and there are separate entrances to both the living room AND the master bedroom.

For all of the subsequent resorts, no such luck. Occasionally you'll get an odd room that has a larger balcony than the one you saw at SSR. For example, some rooms at BWV have full-length balconies that run along the entire wall. The reason for the larger balcony has to do with the exterior design of the resort itself. I don't think there are additional exit doors off of the master BR, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't figure that we would have a balcony, but I was hoping! Last time we took my parents, we did the 2 bedroom lockoff at VWL, and got lucky enough to get the studio with NO balcony. So my parents staying in the studio, didn't have a balcony. But, we had one in the Living area, and the master bedroom of that particular unit.

DVC is trying something new with SSR.

all the others 1-bedroom (so the 2,too) - had a door to the balcony off the livingroom. It looks like SSR does not.

you don't have to belief me - just go look at the
www.dvcmember.com
click on resorts
once you are in your chosen resort - click on accomodation - all the layouts are there.

Not sure what you mean, Oh Spicey One. We were in a dedicated 2BR last month, and there was definitely a "door to the balcony off the livingroom".

(I assume you mean that they have a door do the balcony off of the bedroom.)

I actually did check, and both VWL and BCV also showed the single door/single balcony setup. No door off of the master bedroom.

The BWV image did show a separate door and balcony for the master bedroom, but are you certain that all rooms are like that? I could have sworn that our 1B last spring only had the one door.

It is worth noting that the SSR balcony (at least for the 1B) appears to be larger than at either BCV or VWL. The image shows the SSR balcony to be the same width as the living room itself. At those other two resorts, the balcony is only about half as wide as the living room. This does seem to agree with my recollections from our stay at SSR--I expected the balcony to be smaller.

When we were at SSR last December, DW and I were sitting out having breakfast on the balcony and I noticed that our balcony was larger than some of the other SSR balconies. We had a dedicated 2BR - 2810, I think - and it was deeper (that is, it stuck out more).

Yes sorry most of the balcony have a door off the livingroom and one off the master bedroom.

the layout looks like the balcony has a door just off the livingroom - not the master bedroom for SSR.

sorry about the confusion.

every 1-bedroom I have stayed at - has the 2 doors - VWL, BWV, OKW, VB, HH - I haven't stayed in a 1-bedroom at BCV yet - and I haven't stay at SSR at all - will soon. :D

Now I don't know if I got lucky - or all the villas have the 2 doors.

At VWL and SSR, our one bedroom had only one balcony off the living room. None off the bedroom.

I've stayed in a dedicated 1 bedroom 6 times at BWV. Five of the times, we had a large balcony that stretched from the living room to the bedroom, with doors from each. On our trip last month, we only had a small balcony off the living room, the bedroom was just windows (room 5051).
