Hi all,
Thanks for the great info on this board. DH and I are seriously considering a DVC purchase. :cheer2: We would probably buy SSR. We are looking at resale and direct from Disney. We are planning on touring during our vacation week of Sept 23. I know no one knows what perks they will be offering in sept. but lets assume I don't get any free pts. My question is this: if we sign up with Disney, would we be able to make reservations for Dec 20-24, 2007? (tenth anniversary  ) How soon could we call? How soon do we get our pts and do we have to have pts in the account (i.e. what if our use year is Aug?, borrow then?) Would I still have a chance at getting a studio at SSR after I am a DVC member or would it be booked by then? :headache: There is current availabilty for cash rooms. Now if I buy resale, I am assuming I probably couldn't make it in time...is this correct? Thanks for any advice, Marriedmyprince

If you buy from Disney, which we did, you will probably get a March UY. You will have points available from this year to use or bank. I was told that I could call MS to make reservations the week after we signed our papers.
We signed our papers 2 weeks ago and have gotten 2 calls from DVC welcoming us and saying that they are looking forward to working with us to arrange our next stay<G>

If you buy from Disney, you will have points to use in time for Dec, BUT judging from Dis points, it sounds like a busy time for DVC properties and DVC owners. If i wasnt' teaching school, I would be taking my DDs to WDW.

When you agree to purchase directly from DVC, you can make your first reservation that same day...following day at the very latest. The first stay (using the points) normally cannot commence until the closing has occurred on your contract, but securing the a reservation for several months down the road is not a problem.

Buying resale figure on 60-90 days from the time you make your first offer (and it's accepted) until you are listed in DVC's computers as the owner.

As for booking the week before Christmas at this relatively late date...absolutely no guarantees there. You may get lucky but I'm more inclined to think nothing will be available. IMO, your best bet would be to arrive at the tour prepared to buy and tell the salesman that he has a sale if he can get you the dates you want.

If he does pull something off, don't you dare leave the room without committing and think that he can work similar magic a few days or weeks later after you've considered it further. It's not uncommon for December dates to be booked solid by the prior February / March. If they actually do get you a room on less than 3 months' notice, understand that someone will have really pulled some strings to make it happen.
