Pete has posted some really terrific aerial views of WDW and other area attractions. Included are two shots of DD that I "think" also show SSR. I was wondering if some of our experts (morning, Doc) who have been watching the resort develop can tell if these are indeed the SSR buildings. If so, they really are almost into DD. They seem even closer than the old buildings were, but maybe it's just because we are looking at them from above.

SSR/DD photos

It's this photo and then forward two more.

Well, I'm not the "Doc" you we're looking for, but I can confirm that these two pictures do indeed show SSR. Photo 1 shows the first four buildings and the blue of their quiet pool. Off to the left is the Community area. Photo 2 shows (I believe) Bldg 4 and the path to DTD.

Boy, now I see why some folks are worried about the proximity of SSR to DTD - it sure looks close in these photos! But it does look like it will be a bit of a hike to DTD from Bldg 1 - and more for Bldgs 5-12. Hey, maybe we've found a use for the old FL-TL Skyway!

Thanks Dr. T! I was surprised myself how close it looks in these photos. But, I guess it isn't actually much closer (if at all) than the old buildings were. It's just an unusual view.

Wow...cool pictures! You're right...it does look close in this view. Comparing it to the SSR map that came with our paperwork, the resort looks like it is going to be HUGE.

Gosh, I can't wait to stay there!

I can't believe I missed this great view of OKW! (with PO, the Treehouse Villas and various other resorts in the picture as well...I think even VWL and GF are in the distance.)

OKW From Above

These pictures really are terrific and what a beautiful day!!

Unfortunatly, it only shows half of OKW! It stops at building 29.

Gee, so that's what Downtown Disney looks like in the day time and without a margarita!

And look at how many open parking spaces!!! Must have been real early in the day. ;)

Caution: Unscientific measurements and estimates ahead!

Using the giant "ariel" ::wink:: view photo that was posted a while back, I did some rough measuring, and the distance from the first four SSR buildings to the Disney Marketplace at DTD isn't as much as the distance from one end of the Polynesian Resort to the other.

Now it will be a hike from the farthest building at the end of the lake to DTD - comparable to the walk from the Epcot main entrance to the American Adventure; but it'll be much shorter to the SSR boat dock.

Can't wait until May to find out!
