Ok, because the debate about SSR owners still rages on I wanted to capture THIS moment in time about how we use our points.

Here are the results from the last poll that was taken a year ago. Lets see how they differ.

Last Poll Results

But most importantly, if you do answer the poll, please tell us WHY!!

Thanks!

I said OKW but rather than being b/c it is less points (suggested in the old poll by diane) it is b/c I like the tropical theme with the palm trees and bungalow style buldings. I'm booked at SSR week this summer and for 1/2 of my honeymoon and the other 1/2 OKW. However, I think as time goes on I will try to book OKW more and more. This is an honest answer and I hope I don't send the OKW folks in a rage :firefight

crap, how do you edit a poll?
I wanted to add another option of any resort I can get into and SSR as a last option type thing.

Anywho, I voted to try them all at least once and then SSR from there on out is totally fine with me :)

ETA:
Oh, and why, because I do have a checklist. I want to try EVERY Disney owned resort on property. I have issues. So I have to try them all at least once then I will be back to SSR because I really do like it there. Hubby thinks I am nuts and just wants to stay at SSR  What a weird-o :teeth:

I even used POINTS to book an upcoming stay in the CR Tower. Gasp, that is right, POINTS!! :upsidedow

I plan to use my points mostly at SSR because I love the resort (including Artist Palette, High Rock Spring Pool, the Spa, access to DTD, and the resort grounds for walking on days when we don't go to the parks).

Having said that however, our first trip was to HHI and our upcoming trip to F&W has just been switched to BWV (for easy access to Epcot). Had I not been able to switch to BWV at the 7 month mark, I would have been just as pleased with SSR for that trip.

I plan to stay at all DVC locations eventually, but it will be a while before I get that done (because I love SSR so much!).

We mostly stay at SSR because it is our favorite so far! It is very convenient to park right outside the door. We love to walk to DTD, and most of all....my 4 year old DD won't stay anywhere else. She calls it "Donald's hotel" because of the water play area (perfect for small kids!) We have used the buses with no problems and we sometimes drive to the parks if we don't want to deal with hauling strollers on and off the buses (we have a one year old as well). I suppose we are in the minority that LOVES the food choices at Artist's Palette. The staff are the friendliest that I have met, especially at community hall! I LOVE this resort and it has not even reached it's full potential yet! The landscaping will only become more lush, the food choices will expand, carriage rides are now offered, there will be another pool with theming in the last section (so I have heard). I think it is exciting to watch this resort come into its own and to be a part of it! :thumbsup2

I voted the final option. I'll always be happy to stay at SSR no matter what, but I can't wait to try the other resorts as well... I especially want to try WLV. I've actually never even visited WL, never stayed as a guest and every time I plan an ADR there I end up having to cancel. But for some reason I've always had a feeling that I would really love it so I'm quite eager to try WLV.

But the trips themselves will dictate where we stay, not any kind of checklist of "trying them all." DD, who is a pool freak, is dying to try BCV, but our next trip might be February and I'm not sure it is worth it if we can'y enjoy the pool. Our next trip we're taking my BIL who hasn't been since he was a kid so he might prefer an in-the-action resort to one of the condo resorts. But our trip after that we're taking my sister's family and we'll definitely stay at our SSR home for that one to take advantage of booking that Grand Villa at 11 months! So our resort choice will often depend on who we are traveling with and what our plans for that trip are. And since I'm already looking at constantly overspending on points... OKW trips will come when it is time to conserve after blowing everything on a Grand Villa.

And by the next trip after that... well, I'm planning on trying out the CRV! :teeth:

We also love AP. Love the food and the kids love the easels. Usually I find resort counter service food pretty gagalicious but we really enjoyed both of our Artist's Palette meals.

dh and i bought ssr because it was the best deal for us at the time we were prepared to buy - but - we hope to stay at okw because of the tropical theme, laid back atmosphere, size of units and, lower number of points...would stay at ssr if okw ressie wasn't available.

Be forewarned: This WILL lead to an add-on. :teeth:

Will mostly stay at SSR, location, room size and grounds. We must try VWL sometime since I hear so much about it. Don't really care for BWV/BC, never tried OKW either so I probably will sometime. Also use points to trade outside DVC, and we are going to try to get ressie at HH this fall at the 7 month window. If we can't we'll just get a hotel at HH.

I voted mostly SSR stays. Why? Because my husband and I are not really into staying in the midst of all the action. We like to go to the parks and go back and relax. We always travel during off peak times because we like to avoid as many people as possible. So for us, SSR seemed the most "quiet" of the group. Besides that reason, SSR just really appeals to us. I love going to the spa and taking walks and our 2 year old is SURE to love the pool! :cool1:

I answered the poll "Want to try each resort once, and then SSR is fine." This said, I really don't care if I try BWV and BCV. Not my cup of tea and the points are more. We love SSR, the pool, the food, the location and just about everything about it. We have tried OKW, WLV, VB and will try HH at Thanksgiving. It isn't that I have anything against BCV and BWV, because I haven't stayed there so I don't have any complaints, but I think I will leave them to people that just love that type of atmosphere. If I can't get in to SSR, I will try whatever is available, because nothing is going to spoil my stay at WDW. :woohoo:

I voted try everything once, than SSR from there.

I look at it like a new car. I paid all this money for it, I at least want to try out the different features. But in the end, it is the "car" that I fell in love with, the special features are easy forgotten about.

Hello, my name is Rozzie. I am a SSR lover. I love being to enjoy a glass of wine on my deck with peacefulness. I like to be able to park at my villa. I love the Saratoga Ale at the pool bar. I love being surronded by beauty and gorgeous decor. I love being able to go to the Earl of Sandwich for lunch on a whim. I love the CMs, especially at community hall who make me feel like I am special. I love the bellservices, who upon 3 times go completly out of their way to make our trip easier. I love all the equine touches. I love CP pool. I love AP! I love that I do not settle for burgers! I love the General Manager of the resort who remembers our name.

Yes Cobbler. We are SSR lovers! The more I think about it, I am not only a lover, but I am also a SSR Snob.

Thanks for the poll, Cobbie! :thumbsup2

edited to add: As much as my desire is to stay at all the resorts, I keep booking SSR again and again. Even switched a BWV ressie back to SSR. It may take a long time to try all of them at this rate....just can't help it. SSR is my little slice of heaven. :cloud9:
Looking forward to staying at OKW in May also, our second favorite!

We've liked the location even before it was SSR, we like being close to DTD, watching the few seconds of fireworks at midnight, the quietness after being at the parks. I'm very happy with SSR.

I voted mostly SSR.

The first time we toured DVC it was BWV that was up for sale. We ended up not buying - it wasn't really for us. Then a few years later SSR came along. For us the location was perfect. We are in our early thirties and have no children, we like to go out and have a good time in the evenings. The Boardwalk doesn't really do much for us, we much prefer DTD. That together with the dining options at DTD and a truly beautiful resort :cloud9: made SSR perfect for us.

So far we have only stayed at SSR. We are going back to Disney in April. Guess where we're staying? Yep, SSR. In fact, at the moment we have no desire to stay anywhere else. We don't care about proximity to the parks, we only spend a few hours there during the day anyway. We'd rather be able to spend the evening at DTD, have a few drinks, grab a takeout from Wolfgang Puck Express, walk home and have a late dinner on the balcony. Of course this isn't everyone's idea of a good time, but it suits us. :thumbsup2

I voted mostly SSR because that is where I want to stay. There were, however, two occasions when I was unable to add to or change my existing reservation at SSR (this is true) and needed to wait-list for any DVC available. My SSR wait-list came through and that was that! I especially like the fact that because SSR is large I can almost always get the size room I need.

I voted mostly SSR as well.

We like the proximity to downtown disney as well as the laid-back atmosphere. We will plan on trying the other resorts as time goes on, but we are very happy with SSR and will stay there most often.

I voted that I wanted to try all the different DVCs and then SSR would be fine. However, after I stay at them all, this could change. I just want to experience staying at the different resorts to see which one I actually like best.

This year I'll be staying at BWV, OKW, and then SSR. I have a feeling that due to points, location, and style preference that these 3 will be my regular booking locations. The BCV and VWL are more costly with points, but I will be giving them a try (maybe next year).

Oh, I'm gonna tour all of the WDW DVC's on my upcoming trip, so I might actually change my mind and try and get into BCV in Oct and VWL in December... (depending on how much I like, or dislike, certain resorts) :goodvibes

I voted that I would mostly stay at SSR. I have been to all of the onsite DVC resorts. I was fully expecting to love BCV but after trying them all SSR is my fave. It is also my kids favorite. They are teen and pre teen and  DTD, the pool , Disney Quest etc. I think once the Turf Club Grill is in full swing, it will be even better. The balcony on the back will be a great place to dine outdoors. A nice glass of wine and the beautiful view, it will be heaven!I also love the fact that if I want a change I can stay at any of the other wonderful resorts. They all have wonderful things to offer! :cloud9:

I also voted mostly SSR we just love it.I like the fact that our car is right there when we need it, DTD and all the places to eat, the only other place we have stayed is OKW , loved it too. We do go to HHI once a year to relax, so I guess we just like the laid back resorts. :cool1:
