We are looking to book for next november/ December to take advantage of the DDP.

If we opt for POFQ we would upgrade to DDP so that we can take advantage of eating at places we would normally never go (like CRT).

The difference in price is about £200 but I'm struggling to decide which resort would be best for us.

It's just the 2 of us so which resort would you recommend and why and which area in the resort is the best to stay in?

Can't advise I'm afraid! We have stayed at POFQ but not SSR.

We have the same dilemma though but if we choose to do POFQ.we won't upgrade, just use QSDP. Looking to tag a stay onto our cruise so I'll be following this thread to see what others have to say.

This year is disney cruise with stay at the boardwalk with friends... Next year it will be just the two of us

I have stayed in POFQ and I absolutely loved it. Nice small resort, beautiful to walk around in but can expand that to visit POR too. The boat to DTD can't be beat and the food court is basic but nice. I also like the location of POFQ and the bus service. I always found I didn't wait more than ten minutes for a bus.

I haven't stayed in SSR but visited it and have stayed in OKW. I mention this because I find that both SSR and OKW lack the disney magic imo. I can't quite put my finger on it:confused3 However you do get a more in your room and the location is very good, you can walk to DTD if you want. Loads of people love SSR BUT, I would personally choose POFQ. It really is a beautiful resort.

Norwegian breakaway for us to Bermuda! Deposit already down so figured we 're stateside, why not goo back to Disney ;) we're at OKW this October hence the possibility of maybe just doing POFQ with QSDP!

DW is leaning more towards POFQ , waiting for other opinions before making a final decision.

Having stayed at SSR I would recommend it! Just the extra space is lovely and the kitchenette.

I agree that there isn't much Disney feel to it but in my opinion I quiet like that! I like that the place doesn't appeal to a lot of people to just visit the resort i would love to stay at GF or one of the other hotels that have popular restaurants but I wouldn't enjoy the crowd it attracts.

We are booked to stay at Port Orleans but are hoping to upgrade to SSR. I love that you can walk to DTD. When eating at a different resort you just get the bus to DTD then walk back to SSR instead of having to get may be two buses. We walked to Wolf gang puck express most mornings for breakfast then would get the buses from DTD in the morning and the buses were so quiet from there in the morning. (the buses from DTD don't go to the parks but we would get the GF bus for MK, the Swan/Dolphin bus for Epcot and HS)

I'm sure where ever you stay you will have a magical time! Enjoy your planning!

We love all the disney theming in the resorts and parks, we loved the bright theming of ASMovies and Pop but all of us including my DD10 adored SSR.

It really grew on us, the staff were fab, DD loved the pools and Community Hall. And we end our stay on a free golf buggy ride with our luggage over to DTD after enquiring about a taxi.

SSR is a beautiful resort and so convenient for DTD.

We had breakfast at the GF and wow! It was the first time we had visited it and I was in awe - I would love to stay there but as you say very busy.

AKL was also very busy and my husband was like 'I'm glad we are staying at SSR'.

i have done PO (rs) and SSr and we are returning to dvc next year which i think says it all...

PO is alovely resort, but rooms are v small, ok for 2 not for a family) food hall was verycrowded and pool was always v busy (until we found the quiet pool behind our room...doh!!)

ssr was something else, the rooms were massive, pools, bars and food courts were quieter (no more thana few minutes wait and always a table) they also had a pool with drinks machines and a snack bar for kids....

we preffered the "down time" from disney, made us appreciate the magic more when we were with the mouse x

This will be our third SSR trip and we love it. Congress park is we're we like to stay so you have views of DTD we find it relaxing and spacious but know we are still on Disney property. It works for us but we also like the look of pofq but never stayed there.

I would say it depends on whether you are driving or bussing on your trip. You have the option of the DTD buses as well if you stay at SSR and then just walk from DTD I have noted that the buses don't seem to be too busy for SSR whereas I am sure they are busier for pofq, just saying.

never stayed at SSR, but a similar choice would be between POFQ and OKW - i would go with OKW every time...

and yes there is a disney feel to it - every time you drive through the gate you're greeted with a "welcome home"....and every CM is disney friendly....

the only advantage to Port Orleans is the food court, if you're going to eat in the food court for dinner (with TS for lunch)..

I just booked SSR on tuesday after the same dilemma. Free table serving dining swung it for me again.

I've never stayed at SSR, stayed at OKW last year and imagine they are both quite similar.

I'd probably say PORs are in better location, but as i said the TS dining at SSR is the reason I chose it. Had it past 3 times and don't think I could go on QS DP after that.

I've stayed in both PORs. Riverside was my favourite out of the 2

We too booked ssr over the po or cbr hotels. For us it was the bigger rooms and walking to dtd. This year in OKW, if everyone was tired but hungry, I'd drive to dtd and get takeout from Wolfgang Pucks but parking was horrendous so it frequently took over an hour round trip. Now with it on the doorstep, we can either all wander over or I can jog there and back for a quick takeout!

We have stayed a pofq and okw and we loved both. Okw we are going back to this year but if we book next year it will be pofq as the discount is just not enough for us to book okw again.
That being said we loved pofq and would be more than happy to stay again. Make sure you book a king size room that way you get a bit more space.

Well we've booked today for POFQ.....and a king room too!

Figured we're at OKW this year, and we've done POFQ before and loved it!! Like you say the discounts for OKW just not as good as when we booked last year and I can't justify the extra when we already have a cruise booked! Gives us something to look forward to now when we have to leave to come home!.

Well we've booked today for POFQ :woohoo: ..... with virgin holidays having 10% off this weekend , it brought it down to just under what travelcity direct were quoting with the added bonus of the $100 disney gift card :yay: (that is if we remember to pick it up at the airport when we arrive next november)

we upgraded to the DDP from the QSDP and are looking forward to restaurants we wouldnt normally choose.

Thanks for all your help
