SSR or OKW OR off-site condo or Coronado?

Too many choices, and none my first. I was hoping to stay at BW or BC. But there are no 2 br units left at either resort.

Could stay at SSR or OKW. OR a condo off-site for a mere $866 - 5 days Sunday thru Thursday as opposed to $1500 for the same time at SSR. The condo is at the Fountains. Doesn't have a water slide (that was my 9 yo first request) and would definitely need a car, which I was hoping to avoid. But it is on International Blvd so not too difficult a commute I think. OR we could just stay in connecting rooms at Coronado or Caribbean for the entire 7 nights (right now planning the weekend at either of those then transfering to another for the rest of the week) which would mean my partner and I would be in separate beds, he bunking with his son.

I will be traveling with two teens and a pre-teen. So I think Downtown Disney, especially Disney Quest, would be something they'd want to do. Also, the 16 yo boy is a basketball fiend so having a hoop nearby would appeal to him. My son has food allergies so I am hoping for a lot of choices so we can at least attempt to avoid the foods he shouldn't have (nothing life-threatening but he gets stomach pains if he has too much wheat or dairy).

We definitely need a separate bed for each kid - my son, 9, partner's son, 16, and daughter, 14, would need their own beds. Partner and I would LIKE to bunk together. Someone help me decide! Oh, and I don't know all the abreviations, am a newbie, so go easy with me, please.

I would stay at SSR, you can walk to DTD from there and there is lots to do. Also they have a waterslide.

When are you going? Are you thinking of renting points for the DVC resorts or going straight thru Disney?

Personally, on site is always better, no question about it! And if you'd rather not go with a HAFH (home away from home aka DVC), then you could stay at either PO (Port Orleans) and have boat access to DTD (Downtown Disney)!

We are looking to rent points for the SSR, cheaper than thru WDW by a long shot. So I don't think Orleans would compare in price, thru WDW, or am I wrong?

In my heavily biased opinion, SSR is the way to go. You can't beat the location of your sons want to go to Disney Quest often. Also, everything is so new and planned out so well. I have a fondness for OKW as well, what a great place to relax but still be "in Disney". In my mind there is no question that staying on-site is well worth the extra money. If you're going to go with a moderate resort, our favorite has always been Port Orleans Riverside (aka Dixie Landings).
My preference:
1. SSR, 2. OKW, 3. POR, 4. Condo

When are you going...since prices vary with the season. You are talking about spending $300 a night for SSR 2-bed, which isn't a bad price (BTW, OKW will be less expensive). But if you got two adjoining rooms at PO, you might spend about $100 less (or course you won't have a kitchen, master bedroom, etc which might be important to you). We went last October (reg season) and made our Saturday night stay at PO and got it for $110 w/ code, then we moved to BCV for our $120/night stay thru rented points.

Either way, staying on property is worth the money you spend over the off-site property I promise. When I'm on vacation, I hate even getting in the car!

Either way (DVC or other property) is a good choice!!

Just got back from SSR and it sounds like it fits what you need. I don't recall seeing a basketball hoop, but everything else is perfect for you..... water slide at pool, nice short walk to DTD (and Disney Quest) where there is a nice variety of places to eat, and I think kids that age will enjoy the "nightlife" at DTD. SSR has a decent pull-out sofa bed in the main room. That would be perfect for your 9yo. Then you and your partner could take the main bedroom and put the 16yo and the 14yo in the 2nd bedroom.

I would pick SSR over OKW due to proximity to DTD.

Did you check discount codes on mousesavers.com for SSR? Even if that resort isn't specifically listed, sometimes the code still works. It did for me! That was cheaper than renting DVC points and the cancellation policy was much more lenient. Depends when you're going though.

CSR All the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:
Me, DH, DD 5 1/2 & DS 2 just got back a couple of weeks ago. Wonderful experience. The pool is awesome with a slide & squirting fountains. The food court is awesome, they have different stations so everyone can get something different. A wok station, a grill station for burgers & grilled chicken, fresh pasta station, kids meal station, made to order pizza station & a salad/deli station. The atmoshere walking around outside - breathtaking! A big lake with the different room buildings around it fountains in hidden areas & mexican music playing. Rooms clean & from what I have read alittle bigger than some of the deluxe hotels :cheer2: Cannot say enough about this resort not one bad experience :lovestruc
