Thinking about making a last minute (for us) trip beginning of July - seeing all the Springs stuff this weekend got us interested. The only resorts with rooms all nights are OKW and SSR. Our only experience at these two resorts are - visiting family at OKW 1br 8 years ago one night, and touring the VGF models at SSR a few years ago. We usually stay BCV, BLT, VGF.

Thoughts on which resort to try? We've been many times, and always get a car (if that matters).

Thanks

Without knowing your family or preferences, here are some thoughts.

OKW definately has the more spacious 1BR.

Both are condo-style and relatively close parking.

SSR has more QS dining, and 2 feature pools.
SSR has a much shorter walk to Springs.

Most OKW buildings do not have elevators so you might have to walk up to a 2nd or 3rd floor.
All SSR buildings have elevators.

OKW 1 BR have a sleeper chair in addition to the couch.

SSR has a full spa (similiar to VGF)

OKW has the tropical, relaxed vibe, while SSR is a bit more of the standard, up north feeling.

Now would be your last chance to potentially get SSR Congress Park (springs view) room before they become a more expensive preferred view next year.

I would suggest looking at the pictures of the resorts and what they offer. Both resorts are very nice, but if your main goal is to visit The Springs, then SSR is closer.

We could be spending quite a bit of time at the pool. I know"better" is a subjective term, but which resort would be better for pool time. DD is 15, so a good slide or spray/play area isn't that important to us. A quiet/less busy pool is more important to us.

The SSR Congress Park "quiet pool" (is any pool at WDW truly quiet?) has a nice Disney Springs view
The Grandstand pool has a pool bar with drink refill station but also has a kid splash area
And then there are the 2 feature pools Speings and Paddock (both have pool bars for drink refills and nearby QS dining)
(Technically there is also the THV pool)

OKW has 1 feature pool, 1 quiet pool with bar, and 2 quiet pools ... But it will feel a bit more tropical due to the landscaping.
If drink and paid snack availability is not an issue then I might lean OKW.

To me the rooms at OKW are a bit old and tired whereas the SSR ones feel much newer.

I prefer the pools at SSR and the location for Disney Springs

I find the quiet pools at OKW very relaxing. They are old style - but good for relaxing. Pluses and minuses to each resort that might have me toss a coin if I couldn't decide. I do have a fondness for the tropical feel at OKW though. And the Turtle Crawl at the Gurgling Suitcase. :thumbsup2

Imho, SSR edges out OKW simply because of the food access. Artiste Palette(counter service) is very good and you have so many restaurants in the Springs.
