I was perusing the pictures of SSR and noticed the fountain drink area inside of the Artist's Palette. The mugs are being promoted there (looks like the price is 11.99...but it's not completely clear). It is self serve, though...which will take care of a complaint that I've heard more and more about other mug-refill sites: having to wait for a CM to fill them for you.

I don't know if I'd use the refillable mugs if the only place to fill them up was in there. This resort looks like it is going to be really spread out, a hike to the hub for sure. It would be nice if they placed refillable stations at the other quiet pools. Then I'd buy one.

On this same topic, how are the setups at the other DVC resorts for refillable mugs? Does anyone ever buy them? Is there only one location to refill?

Shan - I agree...we're really not the refillable mug type people. We will bring our own disposable drinks with us when we need them. The only exception I can think of is if we plan a day of nothing but lounging by the pool. Then it *might* make sense (however...at $60 for 5 people...I can't see it making financial sense!).

I know BCV mugs can be refilled at Beaches & Cream (the longest refill line I've EVER seen) and possibly Hurriane Hannah's (do I have the name right?). At Boardwalk, I know they can be refilled at the Bakery (another LONG line)...not sure where else.

Ahhh...here's a chart with the locations listed:

We usually purchase refillable mugs every other year.
Then use them at home for our morning traveler.
They seem to turn into "dribble" cups after a couple years, hence the every other year plan.
It is a daily reminder of why I drag myself off to work, have to go so I can pay for my frequent Disney fix's.

I agree with Shan and Katie. We used to be refillable mug people---won't get into the reasons why we're not anymore. But I will say that it's partly the inconvenience of it (particularily at the DVC resorts, i.e. spread out) and the particular fact that all don't offer "free" refills. Usually I just bought them for the kids. But OKW's policy is such that you need to pay $1.65 per refill. I'd rather pay more for the mug & have the refills just be free for the kids as it makes it easier for them. We bought refillable mugs for the kids on our Disney cruise too and I highly doubt the kids drank anywhere near the $20 a piece for them. They do make nice souveniers though.
So, the past several years, we've been bringing our own soda & water. Much cheaper.

We have been "mug fillers" for every trip, yet will probably wait to see the layout and then make a decision. I know I would make the long walk early in the morning to fill everyones mug since I enjoy the walk, yet to do that a few times in a day may not be in the cards.
