My 7 yr old son and I are going to SSR without dh and the other brothers....I've wanted to go on a trip alone for awhile and he is my little disney buddy so I'm taking him with me.

What area would you request? We stayed once in the Springs and I liked that because it was close to everything.....but I've also heard a lot of people say they like grandstand and the pool area there........or would we like congress park and being able to walk to DTD?

I just want to feel safe and not be too far from everything. what would you request?

Missy, do you think SSR is a good kid friendly resort? We are heavily considering SSR for our trip with my wife and 3 young kids...

Thanks

Do you have 4 boys too?? That's so fun you're taking one alone, I really want to do that someday. :) How long are you going for?

Anyway, I would pick the Springs if I were you, for the reason you stated-close to the main areas. You can still use the Grandstand pool, it's just a little walk over there. And I don't think it's that much farther to walk to DTD from there (we've done it a few times). We've stayed at SSR 5 times, 3 times in the Springs and twice in Grandstand, and we prefer the Springs.

I will say that I've read about issues with the Springs bus stop (since it is currently last on the route and the buses can be full by the time they are to pick up there), but we haven't experienced that first hand. However we mostly use our van to get around. If there truly is an issue with that, I think that would be the only downside to the Springs.

Oh and your tag made me LOL!

Yes, I have 4 boys and I am a teacher so my life is CRAZY most of the time. 2 of them are teens and aren't all that crazy about disney but they like it ok....i have an 11 year old stepson who likes disney pretty well and then dh and I have a 7 yr old together......he is my little disney pal and he is a really go with the flow kind of kid......never complains or says he's tired.....he is happy with whatever we do even if it's not a fast roller coaster (that's all the big kids want to do ........over and over and over).

We will be at disney for 5 nights.............3 at SSR and 2 at BCV.....really that's all that was available.......I decided last minute that we would go for spring break.

I think I will request the springs..........for some reason it just makes me feel safer being so close to the main area......last time we stayed there that is where we were and it was nice to be able to just walk across the street and fill up my cup or grab a snack.....we never had a problem with the busses.....one morning it was really cold while we were there and they had a bus sitting at the bus stop with the heat on where you could sit and wait for your park bus. They called it the warm bus.....I thought that was really nice cause it was FREEZING!!!

Sounds like a great trip, 5 nights alone with him will be wonderful. How fun!! :)

Yeah, I know what you mean about feeling better being in the Springs, I feel that way too.

That's neat about the warm bus, I've never heard that before. Very nice!

We were there last Dec. and we stayed at the Grandstand. We have a 6 year old boy and 3 year old girl. We like the Grandstand because it was close to a pool with a water play area. It was about a 10-15 minute walk to main pool. But what we enjoyed was that it was the first stop for the buses. Hope this helps.

with him - would say Springs or Grandstand - Congress Park is a little to far from the main pool for 7year old who likes to swim.

Grandstand is not much further than Springs from CH (carriage house)

I am a mom of 3 boys and then a little rose. Dad put the boys in wrestling so I put her in dance, at age 3. 20 years later she owns her own dance studio and teaches dance. We go to disney every spring break for a Mom & daughter get away. We stayed at SSR Grandstand last year and love the easy walk to the bus stop, the pool was close and yet our view was a very quite golf course. Our room was clean and everything was in working order. I would stay there again. We spent many visits at AKL but I feel that resort is so far away from the other parks. We fly into Orlando and have never rented a car in 15 years. We also tried Sentinal Airport but the cab fare is high from there.

we are planning a trip in March but have yet to find a room...........

I couldn't get a room either but for the last 2 weeks I have been calling twice a day and had to book a day here and a day there but I finally got them all and I only have to move once.
