SSR Lovers and Owners Part 4

I won't likely be walking over to the TreeHouses - however I do have a dinner res one night at Port Orleans Riverside and was going to take the boat back to Disney Springs and walk back to my villa - I'll see if I can peek into the Treehouses to see if any look like they're being refurbed or worked on.
I’m reasonably confident they haven’t started, but if you see different let us know

Haven't made it by the treehouses yet - but confirmed the Paddock Pool is still closed. The deck is clear, pool has water in it but is covered, and there's lots of trim and wood not completed. There were workers present at 7pm - not doing any noisy work, but looked like they were cleaning up equipment.

All Christmas decor is up.

Thanks for the update! At this point it doesn’t look like they’re going to hit the “early December” date posted on the website.

If water is in then they’re close.

Depending on the number of workers, the woodwork and trimwork probably wouldn't take more than a few days, then paint. No way to know, but looking at it I wouldn't say it would be unreasonable to expect they could be wrapped and open in a week.

BTW - not sure if this applies to the whole resort, or if they're just doing it room by room as things get worn down, but the last few times I've stayed here, the pots, pans, and utensils were well worn and used...but my villa has very new, clean, and unscuffed pots, pans, and utensils (spatulas and the like). It was nice to make scrambled eggs with cheese and have them all slide out of the pan. Most of the time, the non-stick coatings have been so scratched and damaged that eggs and cheese stick all over the pan. And the plastic spatulas are usually melted at the edges from use and leaving in the pans too long. Everything is new or close to new.

On the room request front - I got pretty close to my request. I had asked for Congress Park and specifically requested rooms ending in 03 or 45 on the 2nd - 4th floor. They delivered on Congress Park, and even got me a room ending in 45, but only had one on the 1st floor. I prefer the views from the higher floors, but I still have a lovely end room looking at Disney Springs, close to the ice machine - so I consider that room request pretty well met.

SSR is now our 2nd fave for so many reasons.
We're very happy without PREFERRED villa locations.

But if that's all that's available to book, can we still request buildings that are NOT in 'PREFERRED' locations?

We aren't concerned about using the extra pts to secure the booking, just that we still can REQUEST "STANDARD" area that we like...
(Yep- We know location is not guaranteed)

You can request whatever you want, but I would imagine that the likelihood of that request being fulfilled is rather low.

Yes, you can definitely request Standard when booked preferred. As mentioned above, no guarantee they can fulfill - but it won't hurt to ask.

Yes. No requests are guaranteed.
But I wouldn't be requesting any refund/return of points...
Just being in our fave area.
Maybe my WL will clear, it won't be a bother AND I'll save a few pts.
Win/Win.

On 12/12/25 which was my first night up there, I checked in early afternoon, unpacked my room, and went over to Disney Springs for dinner. When I got back in the early evening, I had spare time so I decided to walk the SSR grounds to take some night photos - for some reason I have rarely taken photos there - the last ones I had were 18 years ago!:

(A fun comparison is to look at this photo from 2007 - compared to the ones above (especially #4) - the trees in 2007 (which was just 3 years after opening) barely made it past the 2nd floor of the buildings - in 2025 the trees are higher than the entire buildings:

The reason why I say the request is very unlikely to be fulfilled is because if a standard room was available for your dates, it would appear in the booking engine. But Disney could have held the room back for breakage or to rent for cash so it is possible they'll have a room anyway, so that's why it doesn't hurt to ask. You can put the request in MDE when checking in and also inquire at check-in when you arrive at the resort.

I would assume the stairwells get a lot of use at SSR looking at the building layout. Do the doors slam? Trying to figure out the where the quieter rooms would be.

Honestly not many people use the stairs - all buildings have elevators, and even people on the 2nd floor tend to use them. The two end staircases have doors only on the 1st floor - so you won't have too many door-slamming problems unless you're right next to them on the 1st floor - that would be rooms ending in 01 and 03, and 45 and 47. You might hear a little more noise if you're in the dead center rooms right near the main stairs and elevator - just people talking or being loud as they get off the elevator - but that's more about the occasional rude party talking loud - which can happen at any resort.

Thanks for the reply, that's great info about the doors only being on the first floor, definitely helps my planning!

Has anyone heard any updates on paddock pool? I am going to be staying here in January and we expecting pool to be reopened as site had and still has listed as closed until early December. Has anyone staid recently who can confirm or will anyone be staying ssr in next week or two?

We checked out on Sunday. No update on completion, but work is ongoing.

In general SSR is the quietist DVC resort we have stayed at. The elevators are located in the center of the building. The further you get from the elevators the fewer people in general walk by. There are stairwells at each end and in the center by the elevators.
