SSR Lovers and Owners Part 4

How are you getting there? You will have your room number already if you check in through mde, can have the service you are using to get to ssr drop you at your building as well.
I was going to use Mears but I’m considering booking a car service to the resort for this reason.

I’m cheap myself but if car service is close in price, probably a good idea at least for arrival.

We are going to have a big family trip in March 10 people in a 3 bedroom grand villa. Never have done a grand villa so super excited. When we stayed at SSR on a previous trip we were in the farthest Grandstand building from the lobby. We are debating if we should do a request for grandstand again, just doing 1 day at the park out of 4 day trip. With 2 young ones, I thought either that or the paddock as it is close to the pool there. Wondering if there have any previous experience
I am going to say ditto to those saying request Paddock. The pool is awesome, especially for kids and it's a short walk across the bridge to the main area and pool. Have a great trip!

If you are staying in the villas I assume there is many in your group, so Lyft may be cheaper than Mears. But I recommend Mears particularly if you are coming in late as it is very convenient.

If you use Mears, it will drop you near carriage house, where bell service will take your luggage. You will then make your way to your room. There is an internal bus that leaves from where Mears drops you, this will take you close to your villa. If there are only a few of you bell service may take you with your luggage, but if a large number you might not fit in van. Once in your villa, you use the phone to call bell services and they will bring your luggage (did for us) - which is great as they get it up the stairs for you.

If you are walkers, we don’t use internal bus because it is a really nice walk to the villas and is quite flat and takes about 10-15 minutes and we have a villa about midway up the villa region.

I am considering DVC at SSR and just wrapped up my “get to know you” trip. I absolutely LOVED it. 😍 So quiet and peaceful with great proximity to DS. Also had a good meal and cocktail at Turf Club lounge.

Thanks for the great info a few weeks back!

Also, I discovered a burger lunch special at STK in DS. Burger and fries for $9.99. That price was well worth the walk!

There are so many great happy hour specials at DS now. We love staying at SSR and walking over to enjoy them. We are staying at the BW this summer and will really miss the ease of going to DS.

Do we know if there is a site that shows the happy hours, who has and what the offers are?

How is the seating at the Turf Club lounge? Our first night we arrive to SSR about 4 and were thinking of a burger at the pool, but the buffalo chicken dip and big pretzel look tempting. Are there enough seats to easily stop in around 5 and get a spot? Me, DH and DD (12)? Thanks!

We love the grandstand section and request it almost every time we stay at SSR. This past May, I scored a last minute booking and we knew we weren’t going to have much park time due to the heat, it was a trip just to get away. We ended up requesting the Paddock so we could experience the pool and we loved it! We spent more time at the pool than we ever have on any vacation.

We’ll continue to request the grandstand for most trips be when we do go with resort time in mind, we’ll request the Paddock. Have a great trip,

What time is "Happy Hour?"
It depends on the place. Most are only m-f some 11-5 some 3-6 so not all the same. The Edison recently added one and its great including a $6 old fashion.

We've gone up and grabbed burgers many times and I can say I've never seen more than a couple people sitting. Theres tables inside and out on the patio out back.

Preferred Room category booked for studio…what pool is this closest to? We like Top floor quiet location. Since we are booked in Preferred Category, any thoughts on “Requests”? Thanks in advance!😁

Preferred at SSR refers to location, not view. The two Preferred sections are Congress Park, which is closest to the walkway to DS and can have views toward DS (which you can request), and The Springs, which is just across the street from the Carriage House where the feature pool, dining, gift shop, etc. are. I tend to request High Floor in any resort, because they tend to be quieter.

Here's the SSR map, which might be helpful. https://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/SSMap.pdf.

The outside tables sound lovely. Thank you!

There were five or so tables that seat four, and you should be fine at 5pm. It was a bit chaotic for me because Turf Club Resturant was closed (currently Mondays and Tuesdays), and the weather was too cold to sit outside (45 degrees and raining), Credit to the staff, though…they pulled additional tables in from the Resturant to seat newcomers!
