SSR late check out?

We're staying at SSR in May and have an afternoon flight out, so we're thinking of requesting a late check out. Have never done this before, but for those who have - do we request before we arrive, or on arrival? And what time is a normal 'late' checkout? TIA!

Check out is 11am, if you want later you will need to book another night.

No late check out as a DVC member. Units are just too big to clean ; time consuming . Plan on going to pool or Disney Springs.
