SSR June: Will pools be ready?

We are thinking about renting points to try out SSR next June
(hoping to convince DH about DVC). Will the pools be ready? Our kids would not be happy otherwise

There is no reason to believe that the pool will not be ready on the first day of occupancy... and even less reason to believe that it won't be open by June.

Not only is the pool needed for guest satisfaction, but it will be a major selling point of SSR.

As with any new construction project, there's always a possibility of delays. But my guess is that Disney Vacation Development will work around the clock, if necessary, to recover from any delays.

As noted by Werner, there is no reason to worry that the pool will be unavailable at resort opening.

The pool construction is well underway right now and is actually ahead of schedule. Here are some photos taken earlier this month.

My only comment would be good luck getting into SSR in June.

DVC has been selling SSR for almost 2 mos now, and will certainly sell a lot more ownership in coming months. SSR owners can begin making ressies on 12/1/03. With only 2 buildings (92 rooms) scheduled to be open by June, I'd be willing to bet that those rooms will go fast. I suspect a lot of SSR owners, who must already wait 6+ months before they are even allowed to visit, will be planning vacations in the weeks immediately following the 5/1/04 opening.

Owners at other resorts can't book SSR until 2/1/04, and I'd be surprised if there's much left for the summer months by the time that date rolls around.

In short, you should probably start looking for an SSR owner now who wants to rent, and have him/her prepared to call and make a reservation on 12/1.

I saw some buzzing on another thread about the SSR opening being moved to 5/17/04. Has anyone heard an official date other than 5/1/04?

I have seen nothing in print officially from DVC. I was told by several at DVC that SSR will open on May 1, 2004, but until they commit it to an official release any date is a rumor, IMO.

The fact that they are ending the Developer Point usage on April 31, 2004 and closing on the SSR contracts in early May lends credence to the May 1 date. I'd expect a firm date announcement in the coming months.
