Last month my husband and I spent out 10th anniversary at Disney. We stayed half the time at SSR and the other half at BWV. I preferred SSR hands down. You have so many more options as far as food goes. At BWV the only casual food we could get was either take out pizza or one sandwich offering at the bakery. That's the only handy, "quick" food. We were on the dining plan so it was a definite minus. We ate over at beach club, and I got the impression I wouldnt want to stay there either, which was actually quite a shock for me. I just felt like the pool overrated. It's supercrowded, everyone that walks by is staring at you, and it closes early. Plus, to use the slide you have to freeze your half-naked booty as you wind your way out of the pool, across the main sidewalk, and over to the pirate ship. It makes it hard when you are trying to wait for your children to come out of the slide.
Yes, it is nice to be in the middle of the boardwalk, but food was just really limited after a day or two. If you have your kids with you and you don't want to wait in long lines for expensive food, you have to get in your car and go elsewhere, or eat another piece of yucky pizza, or hope that the one sandwich they offer at Boarwalk Bakery is one you like. My main complaint about Boardwalk? The pool was so cold my toddler's lips turned blue and they begged to get out after 15 minutes. That's sooo not my kids typical reaction. I was really frustrated about that. I mean, I think we've spent enough money we could at least get a lukewarm pool.
I loved SSR. Loved the dining options, loved the vast array of snack options they have labeled for you. Very
DVC/
DDP friendly. Loved the spa. Loved the pool. And I personally liked the walking. It was peaceful, and I felt like we got some exercise. Of course, we didn't go in August, but I enjoyed it. My only complaint at both the places?

On their magazine rack at child eye-level was Cosmopolitan magazine with big bright pink letters: THE ORGASM ISSUE! I've got a kindergartener that loves to read. Is Cosmo a Disney friendly magazine?
