Hello,
I just had my first stay at SSR a few weeks back and requested The Grandstand. I did this mainly for the proximity to The Carriage House and boat launch, both of which were only a short walk away. We were in the 8500 - 8800 building, which is the closest building in the section to the Carriage House. I would not hesitate to stay here again... we loved it!
One trick I will mention is the bus stops. The Grandstand bus stop is the first to be picked up, but the last to be dropped off. This means that on the way out of the resort, you have to hit all of the other bus stops before leaving for the park. However, on the way home, you are the very first to get dropped off, which is a nice perk after a long day at the park.
We learned that The Springs bus stop, which is not far away (directly accross from the Carriage House and High Rock Spring's Pool) is the last stop on the way out. So in the mornings after breakfast at Artist Pallete, we would simply walk right over to The Spring's bus stop when leaving for the day. This saved us probably 15 minutes each morning that would otherwise be spent riding around the resort to hit all of the other bus stops. Not the end of the world, but every minute is precious in WDW.
Have a wonderful trip, and be sure to post about your experience!
