SSR for HHI/VB price?

Now, I'm not planning on doing this.. but I was just curious as to how much sense would it make for a person to buy a DVC resale contract with VB or HHI as a home resort because it's cheaper and then just stay at SSR or OKW on every trip? I mean, it sounds like it's never too hard to get SSR when you want it and I'm guessing it would be the same way with OKW?

Would this be a terrible idea or a good way to save money?

Because VB's dues is much higher, if you don't use your points at VB, each year you are saving less and eventually, those trips cost you more than if you would have bought SSR in the first place.

Booking other than your home resort, in peak seasons (esp. the first half of December) can be problematic . . . so in these cases you could opt to be very flexible about your booking in terms of when you go, or you can be happy staying at HH. Neither appeals to me, unless I should choose to go to HH.

Everyone should have the 11-month window to take advantage of. It does make a difference with the WDW DVC resorts.
