SSR December use year question

We purchased at SSR with a December use year, but we don't close completely until April 2004. I know we get our 2003 points right? or am I wrong? If we do get them do I have to request a roll over of them for 2004?

You will get 12/03 points but you won't be able to use them until the resort opens. If you arent planning to use them until after 12/04, you should consider banking them.

First welcome home!! I'm really surprised that the DVC guide didn't inform you at the signing that you can bank your points for 2003. That is what we did when our DVC guide Patti Douglas told us we could do that when we bought into the BCV this past August. Plus when you do get your paper work from DVC there will be a sheet asking you if you want to bank your points from 2003. Have fun at SSR!!

What part of the paperwork is this supposed to be included in? I purchased in August and I don't remember seeing anything about this. Do you mean when the closing takes place? Why would you have to request a banking of your points with the paperwork?

The DVC will mail you a Member document Kit, have you received yours yet? If you have , it will be in the folder "For Your Records" part of the kit. The sheet that you will be looking for has the heading that says Vacation Points Banking Request for New Members, if you don't see it or if you don't have one, give the DVC a call.

And also when you had signed for the SSR they should have gave you some type of paper to sign for banking your points from 2003.

I never received that. I wonder if SSR owners with December use years actually receive this. Maybe it is a different situation because you are BCV with an August use year. I was told that I can just bank my points when I call up to make reservations. There was no request for it with my documents. My guide explained that we can make reservations with December use year points beginning December 1st. As far as banking, I think we can just ask member services to bank them. I'm not sure why BCV would be different. Was the resort open already when you purchased?

You can bank them for use after 1 Dec, 2004. You must do so before 1 June, that doesn't give you much time. If that's your plan, don't wait and cut it close, notify DVC now so they'll automatically do this are the official closing. Put it in writing and as noted, they should have a specific form for this.

It could be different for people who's home resort will be the SSR, When we purchased the BCV we were told by our DVC guide to sign a sheet at the time of purchase that we would be banking our points for 2003 and that there would also be a form in the Menber Kit to send in also. But I was looking at a post today about the SSR by webmasterdoc and he covered everything on the SSR in his post about banking and alot of other things in buying the SSR from the DVC.

Couple of questions?

I just talked to by guide and he told me that I could do an add-on for 100 points or more. Does it not matter that I don't already own there. I own at VWL.

He also said that with my September use year that I wouldn't get any points until 9/04. Price was $89 w/$10 discount. I thought I would get my points but I could bank them. Does this sound right?

Appreciate any thoughts or insight.

As long as you buy the same use year, you can buy 25 points cash, 50 to finance but must buy 100 to get the $10 discount. The earliest use year they are selling is Dec so if you get Sept points, it will be 2004 use year before you get them though you could borrow once you close if not before. You also won't pay fees until you close or Sept, whichever is LATER.
