There has been requests for DTD view catagory at SSR. Do think Disney should guaranteed DTD view? If yes, how many more points per night?

I voted for 'no additional points' but I'd rather see an across the board guarantee for the different sections at SSR rather than just the DTD view category. I've never had a DTD view villa. Would the view be more important to supporters or a guarantee of Congress Park and it's proximity to DTD? If you were guaranteed CP, your odds would be 50-50 as to your view, right, depending on what side of the building your villa is? If it was a guaranteed section instead of a view, I wouldn't want anyone to have to spend extra points.

I feel the same as RLRDA. My preference is the Grandstand. Given the size of the resort and the different preferences by many of the members, I'd like to know where I'm staying when I book. Maybe you could book by section, then also charge extra for the DTD view(only a pt or 2 at most). I'd be fine with that...

I don't really care about at DTD view. Now that they've reduced the nightly fireworks to just special occasions a couple times a year, there's not much to see. It's more about the location.

And for that I'd prefer they booked by neighborhood. 5 categories: Paddocks, Springs, Carousel, Congress Park and Grandstand.

Personally I like the idea of different views, and wouldn't be adverse to having them rejiggering some of the points to do so. Perhaps DTD View, Standard View and Fire Station view? :)

I voted No. I would be happy to work with the system either way, but I think everybody should have a chance at a great view.
If they do ever start a DTD view booking category that costs extra points they should probably offset it with a Carousel category that is a couple of points cheaper. I think that might increase the Carousel's popularity by leaps and bounds. Some of us like to walk and need to save points where we can.

That's a really good idea! Why didn't DVC think of that?? Do they cringe at the thought of re-allocating points? Actually, now that all of the sections are open it makes sense to so many members to make these booking categories. I'm not sure why it's such a big deal for DVC do it. They did it for the HH at OKW....were members vocal about wanting that change (I don't remember)?

I think that almost every resort has some high demand villas that should be broken into a separate booking category. That would serve two benefits: it would guarantee the location at the time of booking and would give resort home owners first shot at the coveted villas.

MS processes these requests all the time, so I am sure that they could name the most requested areas of each resort off the top of their head. I think it has worked very well for BWV, for BCV 2BR with two beds in second BR, and for OKW "near HH". And it sounds like AKV will have Kidani/Jambo as separate categories.

Small resorts such as VWL and BCV can probably live without the category breakout.

Also, I'm not in favor of point re-allocation. I think as long as there are guaranteed booking categories then the home resort folks should be able to book them. Why have to pay a premium in points to book at your home resort?

I would also like to see booking by section. It would be nice to know before you get there what section you are staying. It is a big place and based on where you are you could plan accordingly. Shouldn't have to feel like you won the lottery if you get the section that you want.

yes, I vote for booking categories and for some point reallocation. Charging a couple extra points for high demand rooms helps create more availabiltiy for those that really want certain rooms. the regular rooms will be more attractive at a lower point cost to those people that don't really care what room they get. I'd like to see DTD view as well as near the pool or HH.

Personally my thougths are they should NOT have added the HH location at OKW and they should NOT do this.

If you have to have "location X" then DVC was not the timeshare for you. You should have bought a dedicated unit instead of the flexible type you did buy.

I don't get it..... I have done a survey.... ALl the SSR rooms are right where Disney said they would be AT SSR!

I think all this "views" requests etc is just setting folks up to whine when they don't get what they want. So when they take your DTD view as a category and the room goes out of service because the water pipe burst what are you going to do??? Stand there and pitch a fit.... If you had just gotten a "request" then you would probably not make a fool of yourself. (And before you say "I would not do that" Someone is... I have seen it happen at DVC resort. Grown men/women acting like two years with their favorite toy taken away and at least one of the whiners was wearing the "green mickey" heads on thier camera bag so someone on the DIS is whining!)

I don't want a DTD view, but would definitely be in favor of either a springs or grandstand booking category. We have little kids that enjoy the main pool because of the slide. We were in the Springs section for our last SSR visit, and it was so convienient. I would be a little disappointed if we were stuck in Carousel with a far walk to the main pool.

Why do they have booking categories at other DVC resorts then? BWV members get the 11 month advantage at BWV for BW views or Standard views. BCV members can guarantee 2 queen beds in their 2BR villas. AKV members can book a variety of booking categories at 11 months and they'll be able to know whether their villa is in Jambo or Kidani once it opens. Now OKW has the guarantee of being near the HH. The only one on property, beside SSR, that doesn't have any type of booking category is VWL and others have said it's so small that it doesn't really require any type of booking distinction. When it opens, if MS can tell me that there are 2BR villas available in Kidani with a SV when I want to stay, why can't they tell me that there are villas available in the Grandstand section??? Or with a view of DTD?? There are whiners all over the place not just people affiliated with DVC or the DIS...why should these 2 places be exempt. I'm sure whomever you saw whining does so on a regular basis throughout their daily lives. Would most of us be disappointed if the situation you suggested happened to them - absolutely - but most of us wouldn't pitch a fit. I'd hate to think that would be a reason for DVC not to consider booking categories at SSR.

I think it would be nice if Disney would just honor requests (I know this is not always possible) . I have had a DTD view and not requested it and others who have don't get it.

The room assignment process is a complex job. :teacher:

I like the idea of knowing where you will be before you arrive.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that there could be times that you will not get the building or view you requested due to how DVC is reservations by the day not by the week and it could happen that someone would get bumped because there isn't enough days open in a row for their building or view. :sad2: :scared: :scared1: popcorn::

As long as we don't get stressed over the little stuff I like the idea of knowing where you'll be. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

If I am not misstatken at BW the views were part of the initail buy in package. (Boardwalk guranteed was added later)

I know at AKV they were part of the package.

So IMHO you bought in to the deal there.

At SSR and OKW (where I own in addition to AKV) it was not part of the deal. I don't like the changing of the rules after we started the game.

(And most of you wouldn't pitch a fit... I wish I believed that, but from the complaining that goes on here I find it hard to believe.....Right now there are multipage threads on the quality of the dish soap and the "abuse" of the term Welcome Home:confused3 )

Well, since I wish they had NOT made the HH distinction at OKW, I'm not in favor of DTD view guarantees either.

I don't see anything wrong with SSR owners getting something so many of them want. It's such a large resort, I think DVC should at least guarantee sections.
