We are renting points in November for SSR. We are currently looking at staying in the Paddock area. We would like to be near a quiet pool and a bus stop. Anyone have pictures of the Paddock area or recommend another favorite location? Congress Park looks beautiful with the view of DTD. I looked on Google Earth for the bus stops for each area and couldn't tell where the bus stops are. I know the resort map shows them but I'd like to see where they are located because we have 3 older people with us and I don't want to wear them out walking to the bus stop before they get to the parks.

Love to see some pics of the resort if anyone wants to share! TIA!

P.S. Are the busses really that bad?

the buses can be that back - this is a BIG resort.

here is a map

the bus is the picture of the front of the bus.

Grandstand - this would be my choice for your family
Springs, Paddock, Congress Park, Carousel all have bus stops.

the Grandstand is the first stop on the bus, close to the main building, so close to the fc and restuarant, plus the main pool.

If you're looking for the best area for Disney transportation and a quiet pool and proximity to the main building (Carousel House) then I'd recommend the Grandstand section. It's the first bus stop on the SSR route for both pick up and drop off. If you have 3 older people in your group they shouldn't have a problem getting a seat but by some of the later stops it's usually 'standing room only'. The Grandstand also has a great quiet pool with a water play area that kids love. It's a short (5+ minute) walk to Artist Pallette, Turf Club and the main pool area.

Remember, though, you can request a section or preference (i.e near elevator, etc.) but nothing is guaranteed.

We stayed at the Paddock in a building right next to the bus stop.
It was a great location. the bus stop is in front of a small building that had bathrooms and the laundry in it and just behind it was the quiet pool.
all compact and handy. Just behind that is the long bridge that brings you
across directly in front of the main pool area. also it is now the 3rd bus stop
out of 5 so you will get a seat. The Springs is the closest to the main pool but the last bus stop and can be crowded depending when you visit.

We just got back from SSR our home resort and stayed at Congress Park
this time Beautiful view of DTD. but the walk from there to the main area was actually longer than the walk from the Paddock. remember there are no parking lot views all the rooms are looking out to ponds, pools or DTD.

The Buses are not that bad occasionally there is a long wait but I've had that
happen at the Beach club and Wilderness Lodge.

Good Luck and have a Magical Trip

Thanks for all the info! It sounds like we should try to get (if we can request) the Grandstand section if we want to be close to everything.

Is there a thread already started with pics of SSR?

Try this link it has some nice pics of all resorts, this one should bring you to the SSR specific pic show. MS actually told me about this site for resort info.

I stayed at the Springs last year and it was close to the restaurant and main pool. It wasn't very quiet though, so if your looking for quiet you may be better off at the Grandstand pool. I did like being near the bus stop, spa and gym.

It all depends on family priorities.

For our family, the preference is for Congress Park. The proximity to DTD is the main reason due to better shopping and dining options. Plus, we opted not to get a car that trip. During our 10 day stay at SSR, we must have walked to DTD at least 5 times (it's faster than the bus) and all the way to Cross Roads twice.

We have stayed at Congress Park and the Grandstand. Hands down our favorite of the two is Grandstand. As mentioned it is the first Bus Stop, a short walk to the main building and has a nice private pool.

We prefer CP, close walk to DTD. Had a chance last Thanksgiving to try the Grandstand(we had requested CP close to the quiet pool) as the CP room wasn't ready, but the Grandstand one was. I know some people will think we're insane but we decided to wait for the CP room. We checked in on Sat. about 11am.

You are not insane if DTD is a priority over the rest of the resort. During our stay at CP we checked in late (9 pm) and only the Paddock area was available. We stayed one night in the villa and moved to CP the next day.

I understand the room ready system, however, if you make a reservation 11 months in advance and request a certain area/villa type I do not understand why MS will not even attempt to honour the request. Villa assignment priority should be based on reservation date and not when your plane lands.

The CM noticed we have 2 kids and thought we would like to have a room that was ready when we checked in(ie maybe they wanted to take a nap). I had to laugh because the boys are 7 & 11. I thought that it was very nice that she made that effort and the Grandstand room would have been close to the pool(that was our 2nd request). We declined took the CP room close to the pool, dropped the bags with bell services and hopped the bus to AK. Room was ready at 3:00pm.

You were lucky you got to go away and come back. The CM made us wait around until a CP villa was ready.

They showed us what building at CP we would be in, just couldn't give us a room number yet. We were given the card with the number to call to find out when it was ready.

Our plane will be getting in at 10:15 am. Will we have a pretty good chance of getting the Grandstand?

We would like to go to DTD to eat a few times. Does the boat run every 20 minutes like PO?
