Just wondering. Availability is crazy right now. I had to wait list for 2 nights at SSR (studio). I'm considering a small add on, which I think I'll have to go direct for. I like SSR for the walk to DS which is the reason for the 2 nights tacked on to my next stay. I also like AKV for obvious reasons, but I don't like how remote it is, and the long hallways at Kidani. Do you think SSR will return to it's old availability levels in the next couple of years. I've been back and forth on this for a couple of months, in the meantime the price went up.

I think we should see things a little back to normal once people can travel more and have used up the points they couldn’t for the past two years.

But I think what happened may change how and when people book and we may see people secure things farther in advance just because of what is happening now

SSR though should almost always be a safe bet for 7 months in the future. But, if deciding between that and AK, my vote is SSR!

Yeah, I'm in that boat myself now. I needed to see it in print somehow, but I'm going to add some points at SSR. Thanks.

We own at SSR and LOVE it there. LOVE that we can walk to/from restaurants and bars in the evening instead of waiting for buses.

We have old resale points that we paid about $67 and enjoy staying at all the resorts on our SSR points (next being BWVs in a one bedroom in November that I pieced together in five different ressies over the last three weeks).

Anyway, I would choose SSR. I think it is a hidden gem.

I agree that the 7-month reservation problems at SSR that currently exist will calm down in the future, although that may take a couple years. Nevertheless, pre-covid, even SSR had started showing reservation issues at 7-months out during some of the times in the "Fall" high demand season, e.g., SSR rooms were filling before 7-months out for Wine-and-Dine race weekend, Thanksgiving time, first two weeks of Dec, and time during Christmas week, particularly near NYE.

Moreover, SSR may get demand increases in the future due to things that have occurred during covid. Many who have not stayed there before have been reserving there lately because SSR and Disney Springs were opened up earlier with more things to do than other resorts, other resorts became even more difficult to get at 7-months out, and many who have stayed there recently have lauded how much nicer the redone rooms are (a fact supported by YouTube walk-throughs)..

I own at SSR and purchased specifically for Disney Springs proximity while under construction. Love having DS just a quick walk away. I am there everyday when I stay.

This most recent reno made it even more desirable. My wife and I always stay in a 1-bed villa. It was always just the 2 of us and in reality it could only fit 1 couple and small child because the pullouts are horrendous. Now that they have 2 murphy beds, you could easily sleep 5 comfortably.

I think it will. This fall has been particularly crazy for DVC. If you look at January, almost anything is available.

The refurbished rooms and Disney Springs proximity in a world with parks closing too early certainly help SSR’s desirability.
Plus the 50th birthday and there’s too many points in the system that need to be used. It’s possible SSR might have above average popularity for a few years.

I think as more people experience the SSR remodel it will become harder to get. My wife and I hated the old rooms as they were far to dated. But now they're gorgeous rooms
Especially since they now hold extra people too! Cheap and room for 5 in the studios and one bedrooms, they will be more popular than before. I also really like the new remodel.

There is currently a week at Saratoga available in late September, in a studio. I think thinks will go back to normal by next Spring. I have not seen a lot of last minute availability since they opened VGF & Poly villas...I think a lot of people bought at VGF, but did not buy enough to stay there on a consistent basis. With Poly, you have people that bought at a studio only resort, where they originally said they could guarantee connecting studios, then said our bad, we cannot do that. Those people are taking bigger rooms elsewhere. Back when we bought it was pretty easy to get a room 6 months out, now you need to be exactly 11 or 7, if you are picky.

What time of year? I see a lot of SSR availability at 7 months right now. Of course that is January.
December 9-11. Have BCV booked 11-18 and needed to use up some previously banked points. So I thought SSR would be available, I'd get to see the newly refurbished rooms, and I might get a room close to DS. Hopefully the stars align and I get my third wish.

Plenty of time to open up. I have Dec booked at two resorts for 4 nights and not sure it’s a trip I’ll do. Won’t decide until September.

I am sure I am not alone!

Early December is the busiest DVC time in a normal year, now factor in all the extra points and people who haven’t been able to go due to restrictions. While I do not know what % of points are held by international owners, when those restrictions are lifted, availability will probably get a little tighter. Booking at 11 months for most resorts will be the norm, for a year or two probably.

Ah yeah, December is rough. But I bet something opens up before then and you'll get in.

FYI, as I mentioned, January availability at SSR within 7 months is still pretty good right now. So, everything is not totally crazy.

I have two rooms booked at Jambo. Was going to give one to my daughter but it's only for 4 nights (Dec 8-12) and she now wants to stay a week. I'll be cancelling that one if my son doesn't want it. (He hasn't decided yet.)
