We're going to SSR in October with a 1.5 year old. Are there any areas we might need to request on our reservation that would be better for a family with a toddler? Such as closer to a pool, closer to a bus, etc? Which areas might be best?
We do want to be close to the restaurant area because we always invest in the refillable mugs and want to be able to run quickly for a refill. Should we try to get the Grandstrand area? Any other suggestions?
Can we call and get them to put a note on the reservation that we want that area or do we just ask at checkin?

You can call and put any room requests on your reservation. They'll do their best to meet the request based on need. They tend to assign rooms about 3 days before check-in, but you may also be able to get requests at the Front Desk. Just ask nicely and remember it is all subject to availability. They want to put you in a room as soon as possible so sometimes to get exactly what you want you may have to wait a few hours for it to be available.

I think you'll enjoy Springs or Grandstand. Springs is a bit closer to the main pool (with the kiddie slide and zero entry youngin's love) and restaurant area. Grandstand's pool has a water spray area with a normal small pool. There are drink refill stations at both pools and in Artist's Palette.

One of the upsides of being in the Springs is that you are a short walk across the bridge to the Paddocks pool area. That has a playground. There's another playground at Congress Park. You have full use of all pools, playgrounds and BBQ areas.

If you want to be near the main pool area and closest to the food area then you probably want to be in the Springs. You can call MS and add the request to your reservation, but there is no guarantee that you will get it. I understand that the Grandstand is not a bad walk to the main area and it also has its own themed pool, but we haven't stayed there yet. Good luck wherever you end up. We took our DS when he was that age and he loved every minute. (We were at POFQ that time)

Having stayed at SSR with a toddler, I like the Grandstand area. Great themed pool with sprayers, pool side bar for adults (can you refill mugs there?), nice/short walk to main pool/building, and I think it's the first bus stop to be picked up (it was last time). I can't remember if there was a playground at the GS area... something tells me there was - but I could be making this up. I know there was a covered BBQ area.

*The sprayer area at the GS has been under rehab - no idea for how long or when it will be complete, anyone have an idea?*

PS - your reservation doesn't get to the resort until 5 days before you check-in, so calling before that won't do a lot of good.

Great tips! Thank you. It sounds like we'll be happy at either Grandstrand or Springs. I'll see what I can do. hopefully we'll get lucky.
