Just got back from a 1 night stay at SSR (Home Resort) and 2 nights at BWV. Overall I think both resorts are great and they each have their positives and negatives.
Regarding SSR I stayed in a studio and I loved the room. The views overlooking DTD were fantastic. (and yes you do hear the fireworks at night, but that didn't bother me). The outside corridors are very well done and yes they are cement, but don't feel like you are in a moderate type hotel. The elevators are very fast and by all means you are not in the outside in the corridors very long. Granted, I realiize some people like enclosed air conditioned hallways like BWV, but they are both nice. My only complaint was that they don't have sitdown dining. The pool is nice, but I prefer the Quiet pool which is quite large. Once this resort is completed and they hear all the comments from members I'm sure it will be a great resort.
BWV was great but had a little different feel. I do agree that BWV has a great location and transportation is better then SSR, but SSR isn't bad and being near DTD was great. Again, they both have the +'s and -'s. I had a garden view overlooking the pool, which wasn't horrible, but SSR view was much better. I loved the food selection on the Boardwalk. The only thing I didn't like at BWV was that the bed slept much better at SSR. This could be because SSR was new, but the linens, pillows etc seemed of much better quality at SSR (this could be my personal preference, but who knows).
Overall stay was great at both and I am very glad to be a new DVC member. This was my first stay as a member. Thanks everyone and I hope this helped for your future DVC stays.
