We have decided to buy into DVC at SSR, We have a trip planned to WDW in February next year. DH would like to wait and check it out in person in 2006. Will they still be offering SSR at 85$ a point. What was your experience buying into DVC. Are they always going to be offering some type of special? I want to go ahead and buy before we go, but DH feels better about handling the transaction in person and after he has seen the property. Thanks again! We are at least narrowing it down.. thanks for all fo your help!

DVC has typically given existing owners about 60 days notice before price increases. The last increase was last spring so I'd expect another increase within the new few months. It was suggested to me that the next price increase for SSR would bring the cost to around $100 per point. Sales incentives have usually been offered and these have ranged from $5 t0 $15 per point in the past. There are no guarantees about longevity for those incentives though.

Since notice is usually given prior to increases, expect to read about any impending increase right here- giving new members a chance to take advantage of current pricing before it goes up.

Stay Tuned! :)

Our DVC guide told us we had until the end of Feb to get the $85 special.

Hi Mom Poppins!

Congrats on your decision. We're in the process of buying now. We decided to buy SSR because of the extra 12 years, the $10 pp offer & we can still use this years points. We have yet to see SSR in person, but the pics look wonderful & we can always stay at another resort if it doesn't appeal to us.

We initiated this purchase by telephone & have the most wonderful guide ever. She has made everything so easy!!! Basically, I called & our guide sent us out the info via Fed Ex. Once we received the info, we took a few days to look it over & in those few days, we also signed a contract on a resale as well.

When we decided to buy SSR from Disney, we called our guide & gave her our info & CC number (01/18). They charged the initial $500 deposit & we were able to make ressies shortly thereafter (the next day 01/19).

We received our contract, membership cards & new member gifts last Monday (01/24) & we signed them & sent them back via Fed Ex yesterday. We also paid the remainder of our 10% deposit via CC yesterday as well.

Our closing is supposed to be on or before June 7th, but rumor has it that closings happen much earlier than planned with Disney.

The $10 per point promo is supposed to end in February, but everyone on the boards say that they'll offer Magical Beginnings after that (Someone else chime in on MB please)

The whole process has been so easy! We were encouraged to take our time. Apparently, when you purchase at the parks, they give you 3 days (or something like that) to take advantage of the offer....

My hubby was skeptical, until he saw the info that Disney sent....Now, he's more excited than I am!

I Hope This Helps!

Thanks for the quick replies! I will keep watching the boards... so we will be prepared to make a decision before prices increase! :wave2:

the current special will end 2/28 at midnight...........and a price increase is coming for sure...........SSR will likely still have a MB option but i dont think it will be sold at 85 a point much longer...........DVC is actually selling SSR more quickly than any other resort in its history...........so they are seeing a strong rebound in park travel..........look for all pricing strategies to be going higher. My rec's would be to buy now from DVC if you need their finanacing or buy a SSR resale soon.

My personal opinion: Base price will go up to $99-100 per point and standard Magical Beginnings will apply, which will require sell-back of 2005 points in order to receive $10 per point credit.
